Easter Break

School will be closed Friday 2nd April until Tuesday 6th April.  School opens on Wednesday 7th April.

Hōne Heke Monument Trip

A wee reminder, Senior and Middle syndicate classes will be walking to the Hōne Heke Monument as part of their Kaikohekohe inquiry learning. 

Dates are as follows

Rooms 10, 9, 8, 7 - Thursday 1st of April

Rooms 14, 15 & 16 – Thursday 8th April – please note there was a misprint in last week’s newsletter for Room 16.

Rooms 12 & 17 – Friday 9th April

Weetbix TRYathlonWe are getting close to the event date and are really encouraging our tryathletes to get engaged in our training. Please bring your bikes and togs Wednesday and Friday Next week. Any questions contact Whaea Lydia.

Winter Sport Netball & Hockey!

Next week all children will bring home a verification notice to let whānau know what teams your child will be in for netball and hockey, and who your coaches will be. I am asking if we could have some whānau help (coaching/managing) with our year 3/4 netball teams x2 and hockey teams x2.

Netball skills will start next week on Thursday and Friday with Mrs Stillwell at lunchtime for all netballers. 

Netball and Hockey will start the first week of term 2.

Netball will be played on Wednesday’s after school at approximately 3.40pm to 4.45pm starting on the 5th of May through to 7th of July 2021. There will be a year 3/4 grade and a year 5/6 grade.

Hockey will be played on Saturday’s starting Saturday 8th May, term 2. 

10.00am Funsticks 0-2 years.

10.00am Mini sticks year 2-4

11.30am Kiwi Sticks development teams Years 3-5

12.30pm Kiwi sticks professionals Years 5/6

Basketball 2021

Next term Taal Smith will be running a basketball module from 24th May until 27th October. Games will be played on Monday evenings starting at 4pm and could run until 5.30pm. 

Basketball permission slips will be sent home today for all those children who wish to play next term. We are looking at a possible 5 helpers to coach or manage a team for Monday’s. All teachers are in meetings till 5.30pm. If you can help out please contact Whaea Claire, Whaea Lydia or our school office.

Special Visitors Tomorrow

Elizabeth Watson and Danny Stone

Tomorrow we look forward to having ex pupils Liz Watson and Danny Stone visit our school.  Danny and Liz were pupils here in the mid 90’s.  They are now very successful in their roofing business – Stone Roofing Ltd.  Some children have been busy this week completing houses that Danny and Liz will judge and award prizes for.  The winning house designers will receive a prize and all children will be given an ice block from Danny and Liz too.

It is always exciting when we hear from ex pupils and their successes.

Rugby League Skills

We have Henry Wiki visiting our school on April 12th of this term at 1.30pm – 2.30pm to share some league skills with some of our interested senior students. 

Road Patrol 2021A letter is coming home today with Year 5-6 tamariki that have shown an interest in becoming a  Road Patroller along Mangakāhia Road before or after school starting on Monday 3 May 2021 until the end of the year. Before they can start they will be doing training with Matua Hoani about road safety and what they need to do in this specialist area.
