Welcome

This week we welcome new students Reihana Poa, Barney Moka, James Moka and France Moka and their whānau to our school.

We welcome Whaea Shiralee Beazley to room 2 until the end of the term while Miss Snow is away on leave.

 

Mid-Year Reports  

Mid-Year Reports will go home Week 10, last week of Term 2, on Wednesday 6th July. If your child has been at school for less than 6 weeks they will not receive a report, however, you can make a time with their teacher if you wish to discuss anything.

Matariki Celebrations

Middle Syndicate celebrated Matariki last week with a shared lunch and activities.

School SpeechesCongratulations to Te Awanui Clark, and Indica Wharerau who will be representing our school tonite at the Kaikohe Rotary School Speeches being held at the Kaikohe RSA. Well done to all those tamariki who participated. Pictured here with the girls is Rosemary Horua who was placed third in the school competition.

 

Whanau Education Action Plan

Currently the school is liaising with Keryn Bristowe from Te Taitokerau Attendance service and our School Social Worker Lucy Taurua Mason. They have selected children and whanau to support with their learning. Over the next few weeks Keryn and/or Lucy will be in touch with whānau we believe may like to be involved. If you are contacted and need to talk to Whaea Chicky about anything please do not hesitate.

 

Fire Brigade Sports 2016

This is to be held on Thursday 30 June games start at 9.45am. All of the senior classes year 5 & 6 with some year 4 are involved. The tamariki already know which code they are playing. The codes are Hockey and Netball playing at Lindvart Park. Rippa Rugby at Kaikohe Rugby club and Soccer at Northland College.

Junior Syndicate Matariki

The Junior Syndicate would like to invite you to their Matariki celebrations on Friday 1st July 11.30am to 1.30pm. Come along and join in with the activities and shared lunch.

NetballLast week’s Player of the Day recipients were; Years 3 & 4 Portia Dalton for being an excellent midcourt player and Jayden Tango for awesome defence. Player of the day for Year 5 & 6 Puhiwahine Witehira. Netball for this Saturday, can all players please be at the courts by 8am, games start at 8.30am.

 

Hockey

Congratulations to last week’s Players of the day recipients Sabina Halliday and Coby Waerea-Walker.

We have hockey again this Saturday for both teams. Can all players meet Whaea Rehutai, Green team (development) at 10.30 and Yellow at 11.30 at the turf to get ready and warm up for our games. Also there are Year 5 & 6 trials again for the BOI reps at 12.30pm good luck to all those tamariki who are trying out.

 

New School Photos Date

We have had to change our school photo date. School photos will now be on Wednesday 21st September.

 

Theresa Reihana.On Monday we had a very special visit from local artist Theresa Reihana and Te Aorangi Harrington from Te Kiko Trust. Some of our tamariki were involved in creating an amazing work of art. This was part of the Maori Role Models II book that Te Kiko Trust has published.

 

League

League practice is every Monday and Wednesday with Matua Ken Moka. League is played Wednesday afternoons at 4pm. All players must have shoes and a mouth guard.

 

405 Disco

This Friday 24th June at 405 Rankin Street $5 entry 5.30pm – 7.30pm. Northland Dance crews HUSH and MTI performing. There will be food, drink and glow sticks available to purchase.

 

Rippa team to Whangarei

Whaea Kelli has organised with Sport Northland for a Year 3 / 4 rippa rugby team to play a curtain raiser game, the Blues versus Northland Barbarians this Friday 24th June, 5pm at Toll Stadium (Okara Park) Whangarei. Details have already been sent home with children selected. Any queries please contact Whaea Kelli.
