Welcome

This week we welcome the following new students and their whanau: Hibiscus Tangimetua, Mana and Taonga Reti.

 

We welcome to our school each Monday until the end of term Matua Phadray who is helping with Kapahaka and teaching Mau Rakau.

 

5 year olds: Matija Cooper, Kowhai Johnson and Maddison Tukaki.Semi Johnstone, David Romana-Cooper and Jimmy Phillips

 

6 year olds: Ayla Cherrington, Ihapera Tarawa, Pauline Tahere, Ani Nepia-Hill, Rereata Newman, Ihaka Brown and Nikau Tango.

 

7 year olds: Toni Tango, Mahara Tuoro-Reuben, Portia Dalton, Hawaiki George-Hogg, Jaysharn Pulham and Zyon Johnstone.

 

8 year olds: Manaaki-Tia Nepia-Hill, Kaylene Yukich, Jayda Dalton, Raymond Wilson, Pita Hoori and Dayton Romana-Cooper.

 

9 year olds: Ngawairere Cassidy-Rakete, Devontei Yukich, Ellek Edmonds, Cory Shepherd, Devantae Neho-Lowry and Buddy Cachero.

 

10 year olds: Taylah Brown, Tamara Matthews, Pania Morgan-French, Trevan Wilson, Northe Wilson and Ben Harding.

 

11 year olds: Manaia George-Hogg, Puhiwahine Witehira, Esther Edmonds, Elton Komene-Mau and Joshua Robson.

 

Bus Bay

A friendly reminder to all whanau and friends that the School Bus Bay is for BUSES ONLY, do not park there before and after school.

 

NZEI/PPTA UNION MEETING SCHOOL CLOSED

School will be closing early on Wednesday 7th September at 12.30pm.All teachers, the principal and support staff are required to attend a Union meeting in Kerikeri.The purpose of the meeting is to inform all staff of the key proposals in the Funding Review for education.

 

Buses will be running from 12pm on this day.

 

Hockey

This Saturday there will be the Hockey Prize-giving at 2pm at Lindvart Park Pavilion, all students are asked to please bring a plate.

 

Netball

Congratulations to last week’s players of the day – for the Year 3 and 4 team – Capree Stillwell-Ngaropo and for the Year 5 and 6 team – the whole team played fantastically!

Netball has finished for the season, a huge thank you to our coaches Chrissy Witehira and Anne Stillwell.Thanks also to our amazing players who have made so much progress over the season. Final thanks to our whanau who have come along to support our teams!

 

We plan to have a “school prize giving” in our school hall for all netball and hockey teams/coaches on Friday 9th September starting at 12.30pm.All children to please bring a plate of kai for a shared lunch.

 

Kutus

We are noticing a number of children who have kutus.We ask whanau to check and clean your children’s hair regularly.If you require a comb and kutu solution please come in and see us at the office.

 

School Uniforms - Compulsory

Next year we are making the wearing of school uniforms compulsory for all children.We are currently trying to source a new, slightly cheaper option, but we only have limited uniform sizes in stock now that can be purchased at the office or time payments can be set up on line. We will notify whanau through the newsletter when our new stock is in.

 

Transition Day

All Year 6 children will be attending the next planned Transition Day at Kaikohe Intermediate School on 1st September from approximately 9-2.30pm.Whanau are welcome to attend with their tamariki to see what the school has to offer for next year.

 

The children will be involved in various classroom activities on this day that will give them some idea of what Year 7 will be like for them at Kaikohe Intermediate.The Principal Freda Mokaraka will also be available to speak with whanau should you wish to.

 

Photo Day

We are sending home today the order form for Photos.

Our photo day is planned for Wednesday 21st September. Whanau photos will start at 8am followed by class and individual photos starting with the younger classes first at about 9am. Please send orders with payment in a sealed envelope labelled with your child’s name and room number.

Cross Country ChampsA huge congratulations to the following children who are representing the school today at Ohaeawai:
