Welcome

This week we welcome teacher trainee, Matua Manuel who will be assisting in Room 4 with Miss Mason for the next 5 weeks.

 

Bike Track Opening

The Bike Track blessing and official opening is planned for next Thursday 7th November at 11.30am. Everyone is welcome.

On this day we will also unveil the beautiful murals that were created by Mrs Jarvis and Mrs Shields Club group.

There will be hangi for sale on this day also at $8 for 3 meats and vege or $5 for chicken, potato and stuffing.

Orders can be .made at the school office. The hangi will be ready at 12.30pm and delivered to classes who order. Only 100 smaller $5 packs and 100 $8 packs will be made so be in quick with your order and payment.

 

Hangi Helpers

We will require hangi helpers on 6th November to prepare the hangi for the Bike Track opening as well as helpers on the day down at the pit.

Hangi prep will start at 9am on Wednesday 6th November in our school hall.  Please contact the school office if you are able to help.

 

Duffy Summer Reading

Please find attached to today’s newsletter a book brochure from Books in Homes. All orders must be at school by next Thursday 7th November.

 

Half Marathon Sponsorship

If you able to sponsor our Kaikohe East Team just $1 or $2 that would be awesome.

Call into the school office and leave your sponsorship money with Whaea Kohi.

 

Puberty Lessons

Next Tuesday and Wednesday our public health nurse, Lorreen Broughton, will be running puberty lessons for all Year 5 and 6 students only.  Boys and girls will be divided and taken in separate sessions.  If you do not wish for your child to participate in these lessons you MUST contact the school to opt out.

 

Touch

School touch started last Thursday. There were four nominated Players of the Day who all have received a certificate and voucher from McDonalds Kaikohe. They were: Dutchess and Riccardo Broomfield, Shanti Johnstone and Jorja Hauge-Smith. Tomorrow all teams must be at Lindvart Park by 3.30pm.  We still require parent help in managing and coaching our Under 9 team.  Please contact Mrs Stillwell or Whaea Beeby at the school office if you can help. The school will cover fees.

 

Touch Congratulations

Today Whaea Chrissy Smith came to leave a treat for Matua Anthony’s Under 7 Touch team to say thank you for showing great sportsmanship last Thursday at Touch when playing her Kaikohe West team. She was very pleased with the wonderful sportsmanship all children displayed!

 

Hats for Term 4

All children are asked to either wear a school hat or bring one from home please during Terms 4 and 1. Hats are to be left at school and taken home occasionally for a wash. No hat, no play!

 

Transition for Year 6

There will be two transition days held this term on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th November. All Year 6 children unless we are told otherwise by Whanau will go up to the Kaikohe Intermediate and be involved in two days work.

 

Photo re-orders

If you would like to re-order any school photos the forms are available at the school office.  You will need the photo number that is stamped on the back of the photo you are re-ordering. This is the last week you can re-order, orders will take about 6 weeks.

We are trying to keep children in Junior/Senior Syndicate classes with the same teacher for 2 years but if Whanau wish to opt for a change every year feel free to get in touch.
