Kids Can Fun Walk/Run

Kaikohe East school Year 6 tamariki have been invited to Kaikohe Intermediate school on the 21st of June to participate in a fun run or walk to help fundraise for Kids Can who kindly supply our school with kai and footwear for our tamariki. 

Your child will be provided with a sausage sizzle and iceblock to go towards the event on the day.

Rotary Speech Competition

It is that time of the year again. The school speech competition will be held in our school hall on the week beginning 10th June, exact day to be confirmed. All classes will be participating but only selected children will present their speeches in the hall. There will be the opportunity for Year 5 -6 children to compete in either the competitive or non-competitive section.

Two children from the competitive section will represent us at the Kaikohe Rotary Competition that is being held at the Kaikohe RSA on the evening of Wednesday 19th June.


Whānau Hui Day

On Monday 1st July school will be closing at 12.30pm. Teachers will be available from then onwards to meet with whānau to discuss their child/children’s progress and achievement so far this term. Your child has brought home the initial appointment booking form, thanks to those who have been returned. If you haven’t please complete and return the form to the office as soon as possible. If you have any queries or require another form, please contact Kohi in the office on 4011532 or free phone 0508 KAIKOHE.

Manu Kōrero coming to Kaikohe

Matua Beaumyn Wihongi and students from Northland College who are assisting our Senior Syndicate with participating in the pōwhiri planned for the Manu Kōrero competitions being held at Northland College on 5th June, will be practising at school every Thursday morning.

Huihuinga Term 3

Schools (including Kaikohe East) will be closing early for a Te Arahura Huihuinga to be held on 16 August - Week 4 Term 3 (back up date 23 August - Week 5).

At this hui we will share our collective schools new achievement challenges and our direction going forward.

Junior Trip

The Junior Syndicate - Ngā Kākano, 3,4,5,6 are currently in the process of planning a day trip to Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World in Auckland in week 9 of this term, June the 27th. All students came home with permission slips last week, please make sure to return these slips to their classroom teacher. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Netball

Thank you to our coaches and whānau for their continued tautoko every weekend, there is NO NETBALL this weekend due to Queen’s Birthday.

Hockey

Thanks to our whānau and coaches for a great vibe at last Saturday's games. This week there is NO HOCKEY at all due to Queen’s Birthday.

Queen’s Birthday

Reminder to all whānau, that this Monday, 3rd June, school will be closed due to Queen’s Birthday.

Principal's AwardThis week’s Principal’s award went to Jerney for her positive attitude both inside and outside the classroom, such a beautiful role model.

Term 3 – Dance with Hush

We are planning for two dance groups to work with Bodene Stephens from Hush Dance Studio at the beginning of Term 3. We are looking forward to the two groups working hard and performing at the annual Cultural Festival to be held towards the end of Term 3 at the Memorial Hall.

Transition Days

Our Year 6 children will be visiting Kaikohe Intermediate School for Transition in Term 2 on Wednesday June 12th and in Term 3 on Wednesday 21st August.

Children will be expected to wear their uniform on both their days and will be travelling by bus leaving at about 9am and returning at 12.30pm.

DISCO at Northland College“Back to 80’s” Disco. This Friday, 31st May at Northland College! Gold coin entry ages 4 – 10 years!!

Doors open at 5pm finishing at 8pm!

There will be food, drinks and glow sticks for sale!
