Emergency Services Visit

Last week we had a visit from the emergency services.  The tamariki enjoyed learning how to bandage broken bones, get down get low get out fast and what the different flashing lights meant.  A big mihi to Wayne Martin from the Fire emergency services for help in organizing the day and to our local police and Ambulance who also came on the day.

Kelston Intermediate visiting next week

Next week we have ex Principal from Kaikohe Intermediate School Mr Phil Gordon and about 15 of his Year 8 leaders from his new school at Kelston Intermediate staying in our school hall.  They will be involved in various activities around the area from about 8.30 daily and return to the school hall most afternoons for dinner.  All our usual school activities that happen in the hall will continue around their bedding etc.

Te Arahura Kahui Ako updateAll schools got together recently at Northland College to become more familiar with what the Kahui Ako is about. Principals met last week to discuss our next steps which are around finding out about how schools carry out assessments, start to involve the within and across school teachers in the process of sharing information in their schools, planning professional development and collaborative communication so that we can learn from each other.

Within/Across school teachers will meet at the end of this month to “get started” and ensure that we are ready for 2018.
