Welcome

A special welcome to our new tamariki and their whanau: Tyler Kapa, Areka Wilson-Astle, R’mahni Wilson-Ashby, Teremoe, Maree & Wison Tahere, Parerau Apirana, Rewi Hohepa-Penney, Camelia Bhana and Wainui, Araiti, Anahera and Raukura Peri.

Property upgrade

On the weekend we had some people break into the Room 3 and 4 bathroom area and steal gear belonging to our NPM Builders.  Taken from this area were two step ladders, a yellow drop saw and a drill charger.

Class Letters

Last week all children should have brought home a class letter from their teacher giving whānau information about their classroom programmes, routines and other information we hope will help.  If you have any queries about any information in the class letter do not hesitate to come and see your child’s teacher.  Any children that did not receive a class letter or who are new this week will bring one home today.

Term 1 Camp

We are currently planning for all classes to go to Kokohuia Marae during week 6 & 7 (6th - 16th March), more information to follow. This is a new date and hopefully will be confirmed by the Marae this week.

Te Korowai o te Aroha trip to Waitangi

Tūmanako, Rangimārie and Manawanui trip was postponed yesterday due to the weather. It has now been rescheduled for Monday 19th February, leaving school at 9.15am, returning by 2.30pm. All children to please bring their lunch, suitable walking shoes, a light rain jacket and a bag with everything in it.  If the weather is unsuitable again on Monday we will have to reschedule. A decision will be made at 8am on Monday if the weather is unsuitable.   Feel free to check our school facebook page or phone the office after 8am.

Hockey

This term there will be hockey workshops for year 4-6 classes on Thursday 22nd Feb and Thursday 15th March with Bronson Baker.

There will also be an annual Hockey Festival. When we know more information about this we will include details in upcoming newsletters.

School Swimming Timetable

Kī-o-rahi

There is an annual Kī-o-rahi tournament at Lindvart Park on Thursday March 22nd for year 5-6. Participants will be sent home with permission slips.

Uniform 2018 – Wednesday Wash Day

There is opportunity for whanau to start payments for school polos, hoodies and or jackets for this year.  Call the office or come and see us about how to set up automatic payments.

All children must be in uniform this year with a free day on a Wednesday for whānau to wash uniforms. WINZ quotes can also be arranged by coming in to see us at the office.

Swimming Club NewsKaikohe Swimming Club has started registrations at Northland College pool. Today Wednesday 14th February there will be further registrations taken from 3.30pm-5.30pm.  All children from 5 years and upwards are welcome.  Learn to swim classes will be held at Kaikohe East School pool.  Any queries please come and see Anne Stillwell at our school.

Sports this Term

On March 29th we will be attending the Kaikohe Districts Inter-school Swimming Sports at Northland College.

In preparation for this we will hold our own swimming sports to attain our 1st and 2nd place tamariki for Northland College. Kaikohe East School swimming sports will be on March 15th.

Mrs Stillwell started this week teaching focussed swimming lessons to all classes once a week.

Room 1 and 2 at work

Room 1 and 2 have been off to imaginary land of Letterland this week. They have been learning about Annie Apple. Every week they will be learning a new letter and going off to Letterland. Here is a pic of them already to go!

etbix TryathlonWe have 30 kids who have got parent permission to attend the Weetbix Tryathlon on Sunday 8th of April. Your child will come home with a reminder note. Whānau MUST take their child and borrow/take their own bike to and from the event.

Mrs Stillwell, Whaea Kelli and Whaea Lydia will be training the children at lunchtimes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you can help with training please come and see Whaea Kelli. On Friday 23rd February the Weetbix Tryathlon representatives will be at school at 9.15am to do a brief presentation.
