Flooding remediation

A reminder that due to flooding remediation work happening Junior classes have been moved temporarily.

Rooms 1, 2 (Ngā Kākano) and Room 6 are in the hall

Rooms 3 and 4 are in the Library

Room 5 (Manawanui) is in Room 11

The office area for now is in the same place.

Staff changes this term

This term Whaea Joan only will be in Manawanui teaching. Whaea Te Rangi will be teaching in other areas of the school. 

Whaea Barbara is currently relieving for Whaea Tyme who has had to start her maternity leave earlier than expected.

School Holidays

The last day for Term 3 is Friday 25th September, school will close for a 2 week holiday and will reopen on Monday 12th October. 

Netball

We had a good turnout of Netball players and whānau support at netball last Saturday. Our East Sparrows coached by Anne Stillwell easily won both games. Our seniors also had a great win.

This week we will have two senior teams entered into the competition. East Eagles coached by Whaea Claire and East Hawkes coached by Ashlee Maihi.

Please meet coaches at the Netball courts at 8.30am for uniforms and warm ups. All uniforms are to be returned at the end of each game.

Hockey

Fantastic games played by all our tamariki and  great support from our whānau. A big mihi going out to all our coaches and managers for their great support. It was an open day tournament last Saturday and the results were:

Reminder that our Mini sticks have practices on Friday’s at school only.Seniors will have Wednesday’s hockey practice on the big turf at Lindvart Park from 3.30 - 4.30pm after school and again on Thursday during lunchtimes at school.

Funsticks - 10am - This session is for 5 and 6 year olds.

Basketball

On Monday night at Northland College we saw a great number of children keen and excited to play.

Both our under 9's teams played great games against Tautoro school. Next week our U9's team will merge into one team. Our 2 senior teams played excellent basketball against Kaikohe West School and Tautoro School.

U9's will play next Monday between 3.30-4.30pm and our 2 senior teams will play between 4.30pm - 6pm.

Rippa Rugby

Our school has been invited to participate in the Year 5 and Year 6 Rippa Rugby tournament being held at the Kaikohe Rugby Football and Sports Club on the 10th of September 2020. We will have more details closer to the date.

Learners Bike Track Workshop

Today a group of children from the Junior and Middle Syndicate will be going with Mrs Maihi & Whaea Chrissy to ĀKAU. They are taking part in a Learners Bike Track Workshop with ĀKAU. The purpose of the workshop is to get ideas from learner bike riders about what they would like to see in a new bike track development especially designed for younger members of our community.

The Board will meet at the school at 11:30am on Monday 3 August.
