Welcome

This week we would like to welcome to our school:  Ziggy Vaka, Peter-Michael Lloyd-Harrison, Te Manawa Warbrick-Pese, Jayden Schaumkel and welcome back Pauline Broomfield.

Principal’s Award

Congratulations to Maia Vaka and Walter Frisbee for super progress in Reading this term. They will be receiving a Principal’s award this week and will have a “lunch shout” on Monday from Whaea Chicky.

Four Year Olds

In Term 2 we have to make a few minor changes to Rooms 3, 5 and 6 by moving children to allow for new enrolments in Room 2. If you have a child at home who will be turning 5 soon please let us know urgently. All children who will be moving classes will bring a letter home or will be phoned by the school.

Term 2 Topics

Next term teachers will be planning programmes around the following topics: Kia Kaha – Anti Bullying and Road Safety

School Uniform choice

All whanau and children have the opportunity to select either Sample A, B or C currently on display in the school office. Please feel free to come in and make your vote.  You may change your vote once you see the uniforms on children? Feel free to ask us to get some children to model the samples for you. Voting for samples will close on the Thursday 19th April.

Wagon Wheel Day

Tomorrow Thursday we will be having a fun House Group tabloid sports day from 11.00-12.30.  Morning tea just for tomorrow will be from 10.30-11am. We would love whanau to come down and cheer the children on or even come and join a house team and have some fun with our children.  We will also be having a sausage sizzle for lunch for children to purchase, $2 each.  Orders to your child’s class teacher. After lunch our Tryathletes will compete in a tryathlon around the school to show the children what they have been doing, as they are competing in the Weetbix Kids Tryathlon this Sunday at Woodall Park in Devonport, Auckland.

Weetbix Tryathlon News

This Saturday a group of 15 triathletes will be heading to Auckland to compete in the Weetbix kids Tryathlon at Woodall Park in Devonport Auckland on Sunday.  We wish them all the best.  A huge thank you to Anne Stillwell who has spent her lunchtimes getting the children ready for this event. All children involved will be bringing home more information today. If you have any queries before Saturday do not hesitate to get in touch with either Mrs Stillwell or Mrs Croucher.

School Trustee Elections

Detailed information about the up and coming Board Trustee Elections will be sent home next week with the newsletter.

Swimming

The Swimming season will end this Friday for all classes.

Kids CanLast week some children would have brought home Vodafone Warriors jackets.  These Jackets are given to our children by the charity kids can.  Some families have no way of getting their children to school by car if it is raining, so by providing a child with a jacket, will hopefully keep them warm and dry when walking to school on wet and cold days.  The jackets have only been given to the new children that have started this year.  If your child has not received a jacket and is new this year please contact the school office.

New class for Term 2

Last week I reported that a new Year 4-6 class will begin in Term 2 that Matua Jim will teach initially in the Room 1 area. Supporting Matua Jim and this class will be Stacy Mataki-Kaiaruna. This means that a new teacher will be appointed for the rest of the year to teach children remaining in Room 12.

This week I’d like to confirm that the Room 12 organisation will only go ahead provided we appoint a great teacher with lots of ability and enthusiasm.

A final decision about this organisation will be detailed in next week’s newsletter.
