Welcome

This week we would like to welcome to our school: Simon Pomale. 

 

Whānau HuiWhānau Hui appointment times will only be available on Tuesday 10th September.  You will be given a maximum time of 8 minutes to meet with your child’s teacher/s. This is a time for teachers to share your child’s learning journey so far, where they are in terms of the National Standard for Reading, Writing and Maths, view your child’s/children’s’ books, answer any queries you might have and to talk about future learning.

You can expect your appointment time home on Wednesday 4th September.  If you do not request a time you will be given one anyway and we will expect that you come please.

It is important that we receive your form back so that we know what is happening for your child/children at 12.30pm.

 

Cultural Festival

The annual Cultural Festival is planned for Tuesday 17th September at 11am for the dress rehearsal and Thursday 19th September at 11am for the performance that everyone is welcome to attend. The Festival will be at Northland College, our Te Korowai o te Aroha roopu will perform. Entry is by koha. A programme will be sent home the week of the Festival.

 

School Photos

Our school photos are scheduled for Friday the 13th September by photographer Liz Davies.  If Whānau wish to order photos please send your completed form and correct money in an old envelope back to the office with your child/children’s names on it by the 10th September 2013.

 

The Warehouse

Our thanks to all our whānau who supported us at the recent Kaikohe Warehouse challenge. We are pleased to announce that we won the challenge and are expecting a cheque from The Kaikohe Warehouse soon.

 

Ohaeawai Cross Country

Congratulations to all our students who participated in the annual Ohaeawai Regional Schools Cross Country.  Thank you to all whānau who turned up to support our tamariki, what an amazing successful day.

 

BOI JMC Hockey

This Saturday, 31st August, will be our hockey prize giving.  This is scheduled to start at 10am.  There will be no food and or fun game like in the past.  Everyone welcome, see you all there!

 

Pet Club

Tomorrow the 29th August the Pets Club will be visiting New World and Bay of Islands Vets.

 

Wheels

If your child would like to ride bikes, scooters or skateboards at break times, the designated area for 'wheels' is the concrete area outside Room 12. All riders must wear a helmet. No 'Wheels' are allowed on the Turf or on the decks.

 

Meadow FreshMeadow Fresh Sticker collection is a promotion that could possibly win our school $500,000 worth of sport and art gear.  You will find the stickers specially marked Meadow Fresh products.  Once the form has been completed send it back to the school office to be sent into the draw.  We have until the 27th September and now have 39 entries.

Head Lice

Over the last few days we have picked up a couple of seriously infected head lice cases.  Please ensure to keep checking, combing and cleaning your children’s hair.  We still have free kutu combs available at the school office.  We can also provide para plus as well as a quick comb treatment in our school sick bay. If you wish to decline this treatment please notify the school office, otherwise treatment will occur and you can expect a visit from our Public Health Nurse, Lorreen Broughton who may be able to offer some advice and support.

 

Board of Trustee Reminder

The training seminar for all board members in the Kaikohe area is at the Mid North Motor Inn tomorrow, Thursday 29 August, starting at 7:00pm.

 

Memorial Hall DiscoThere is a disco fundraiser this Friday the 30th August at the Memorial Hall.  From 5 – 7pm Year 1 to Year 8 students only, from 7.30 – 10pm will be Year 9 – 16 year olds.  $2 entry fee with spot prizes, good D.J, food for sale and good security.  See you there.
