Attendance is a little down on term 1 of 2012. (81.7% compared to 83.5% in term 1) It is usual for term 1 to be the highest term for attendance and the winter terms to be the worst so a drop was expected. Actually, a drop of only 2% is better than expected.
A more important comparison is with term 2 of last year. 81.7% attendance (18.3% absent) compares with 80.7% (19.3% absent) for term 2 of 2011.
18.3% absent however still equates to about 43 pupils absent each day, but that compares to 60 pupils per day for term 2 of last year.
17 children attended every day this term and 92 attended for more than 90% of the time.
We had 13 pupils who had attendance figures of below 75%. This is an improvement over term 1. Of those pupils, 6 had genuine reasons such as hospitalisation.
Mondays and Fridays were the days with highest absence with 18% and 20% respectively. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were 13-14%
We are unlikely to achieve our goal of a whole school attendance rate of 85% over the year but we should improve on 2011
