Whānau Day - Thanks

Farewell and thanks

This year we say farewell and thanks to: Whaea Alison , Whaea Te Rangi, Matua Andy and Whaea Chrissy. We wish you all the very best on your new adventures.

Term dates, 2021

27th and 28th January – Teacher Only Days

Term 1 starts – 2 February – 16 April 

Term 2 starts – 3 May – 9 July

Term 3 starts – 26 July – 1 October

Term 4 starts – 18 October – 14 December 

Classes for 2021

Today we will be sharing with all children what class they will be in for 2021. From 9am until 11-50am children will go to this class and meet their teacher. They will participate in some activities that will help them get to know their class and teacher for 2021.

Class Parties at School

Ngā Whetū, Room 10, are having an end of year celebration/dress up/pyjama party on Thursday 3 December. If you would like to contribute something to our lunch that would be great, but we will also be making kai for the day.

Rooms 15 and 16 and 12 are having a shared lunch on Friday 4th December 2020.

Ngā Kākano Class Christmas party on Friday the 4th of December. More detail to follow closer to date.

Rooms 8 & 9 would like to celebrate their year by having a shared lunch and Pyjama Party on Thursday, 3rd of December. 

School Photos

We still have photos in the office. We will be sending them home this week with children if we don’t hear from you.

Skate Park Picnic

Thank you to the whānau who came along today to join Tūmanako, Rangimārie and Room 14 End of Year Xmas Picnic at the Kaikohe Skate Park. 

TBall and Slow Pitch

Today will be the last games for slow pitch and Tball. All players are welcome to stay after school and change into uniforms by 3.15 to be at Lindvart Park by 3.30 for the start of their games.

Christmas Parade

A reminder that it is our annual Christmas Parade this Thursday starting on Recreation Road and heading to the Pioneer Village. Our school is entering a float, children who are on the float have brought home details. See Whaea Crystal or Whaea Tina re any queries.

Te Arahura Kāhui Ako

All schools involved in our Kāhui Ako will be getting together on January 27th for a professional development day. Following that our staff will be meeting at Kaikohe East School for some specific 2021 planning and organisation.

The first day for children will be Tuesday 2nd February as there is a public holiday on Monday 1st February.

Mainfreight Calendars for 2021 

All whānau will receive a calendar today featuring some of our children’s artwork. Congratulations to Ruach Ruka,

 Ataria Hati-Cremins, Zion Rameka-Rakete, Herewini Rurehe and Eminee Rapana for having artwork selected and appearing in the calendar this year.

BasketballDuring this term, Taal Smith has been running some practice skills for basketball at Northland College. These practices have taken place on Mondays at Northland College. He has been training an U13 boy’s basketball team. We are pleased to say that we do have a couple of children from Kaikohe East School who will play in the U13 boys and U9 girls team. They are Wakaroa Smith U13's, Kahurangi Smith and Sarah Edmonds who will play in U9's, on the 26th - 30th January 2020 in Rotorua. We would like to thank all the hard work that Taal and Cheryl have put towards making basketball an experience for our children. Ngā mihi nui ki a kōrua.

Reports Home

Today all children who have been at school for more than 6 weeks will be bringing their 2020 school report home. We try really hard to make sure that reports are accurate, however if whānau find any errors in reports please do not hesitate to come and see their class teacher. Similarly with any matters you wish to discuss come and see your child’s class teacher.

Reports will come home in envelopes.
