Newsletter 201236 - 21 November 2012

Welcome

We welcome back to our kura the following new tamariki: Angela-Shay Lemon, Shadae Kingi and Jamil Cribb.

Teaching Positions for 2013

Currently we are advertising teaching positions at our school. Sadly at the end of the year we have teachers who are leaving to take up new teaching positions:

Whaea Robin will be moving to Auckland and Miss Schwieters and Miss Curry will be taking up new teaching positions at Tikipunga Primary School.

We of course wish them all the best and will miss them all very much.

We are hoping to appoint new staff by the beginning of December.

World Vision Concert

Congratulations to McKenzie Cocks who was selected to perform a solo item 'Somewhere out there" in the World Vision Concert held in Kerikeri last night. All who attended commented on what stars all our children were! Many thanks to Mrs Jarvis and her supporters!

Here is McKenzie at the rehearsals yesterday afternoon.  Holiday Projects

During the last week of the term we are going to be moving furniture from Rooms 1, 2, 5 and 6 possibly to the hall so that the planned classroom upgrades for these areas can begin. We will also be having new shade structures put over both playgrounds.

Kaikohe Christmas Parade

Our community Christmas Parade is to be held on Saturday 8th December. Many thanks to Mrs Croucher and Room 1 for taking up the challenge. The theme for this year’s float is Animal and Bird World! Mrs Croucher is planning to have a “Ice Aged Animal” float so if there are any whānau able and willing to come and help please come and see Mrs Croucher.

Parents in bus bay

Whānau are reminded not to drop their children off in the school bus bay on Purdy Street please. The bus bay is for buses only and drivers become very frustrated when they arrive and cars are in the area.

End of Year Survey

I invite all whānau to send me their thoughts via the attached Survey.

Thank you to the whānau who have already responded with feedback about Uniforms. I will in next week’s newsletter be advertising some of your responses.

This survey includes:

Written Reports

Written reports will be coming home for most children on Wednesday 5th December with the newsletter.

Following this teacher’s will be available for whānau to come and discuss any aspects of the report that may need clarification. We have tried to make the report simple but in doing so have included all necessary and appropriate information without using too much teacher jargon we hope.

Please note that reports will not be written for children who only just enrolled this term however teachers would be more than willing to meet with whānau of these children.  Please call in and see your child’s teacher if your child/children just started this term and you would like an update or call the school office to make a time to meet a teacher.

WE Connect Reports

All children who have been at WE Connect will receive a report in the form of a letter. The report has been prepared by their current teacher Whaea Stevie who will also having face to face interviews with WE Connect whānau later in the term.
