Welcome
A special welcome back to Whaea Waiora Wihongi-Court teaching in Room 9 and to Diago Tukaki-Te Muunu, and to new students Vaughan Komene and Andrea Warren.
T-ballAll t-ball players to be at Lindvart Park every Wednesday at 3:30pm starting today. All players need shoes and a drink.
Games start at 4:00pm and finish at 5:00pm.
Middle Syndicate Trip
In week 3 rooms 4, 5, 6 and Rangimarie will be visiting the Pioneer Village and Te Ahuahu maunga. Details will be in next week’s newsletter.
Bay of Islands Show
This year the 175th Bay of Islands Show (Waimate North) is being held on Saturday 11 November. Lots of classes will be busy over the next few weeks preparing items to be included in the traditional sections such as Art and Craft, baking, flowers etc. We will also once again be entering the Kapa Haka.section.
Fire Evacuation and Lockdown
This term we have planned practices in case of a fire at school or the need to “lockdown”.
Te Arahura Kahui Ako
Next week all schools who are part of the Te Arahura Kahui Ako will be meeting at Northland College to start conversations about the work the schools have ahead of them.
Davina Smolders is coming to our school every Wednesday to help a small group of children with a programme called “Keeping Safe”. Davina delivers the individual sessions through art and will be available to whanau who have any questions.Holidays
School is closed on Labour Day Monday 23 October.
The last day of school for 2017 is Thursday 14 December.
Class Organisation for 2018
At the end of next week the Board of Trustees is hoping to have confirmed appointments for the teaching positions for next year. This week teachers started putting children into classes for 2018. If any whanau would like to discuss the placement of their child for next year please come in or phone Whaea Chicky to discuss possibilities.
Next week Whaea Chicky will be writing to the children who have been selected to join our new boys class starting next year.
Counselling
TouchAll touch players to be at Lindvart Park every Thursday at 3:30pm starting this week. Games start at 4:00pm and finish at 5:00pm.
OneSight
Last term all of our students had their eyes tested by OneSight, an organisation that provides free eye care to communities in Australia and New Zealand. If the test suggested that your child may need glasses you will receive a letter and voucher. This voucher entitles the child to a free eye test and free glasses if needed from our nearest OPSM store which is in the Strand Arcade in Whangarei.

Lunches
Orders for Alb’s Kai Cart are taken in the hall from 8:30am. Lunches are delivered to classes at 1:00pm.
Kaikohe Christmas ParadeThis term Whaea Lydia and other staff will be busy organising a school float. She is keen to hear from any whanau who can help with making costumes or would like to help in any way. Come and see Whaea Lydia in Room 6 if you are able to help out.
