Welcome Back

This week we welcome back to Dougie Brown-Korewha and his whanau.

Kaikohe East School Board

The Kaikohe East School Board meets at the school at 1.30pm on Wednesday 2nd November (today’s meeting postponed).

The TPU (Teen Parent Unit)

During the week we have had the Teen Parent buildings arrive on site.

Swimming on Monday

This week our pool upgrade has been underway and we are on track to start swimming on Monday 31st October.  Children are to bring togs, their own towel in a plastic bag on their class swimming days.

Special Term 4 Dates

Here is a list of special events we know of now that are occurring in Term 4:

School pool opens – Tuesday 25th October for class lessons.

Term 4 Sport

Softball and T Ball began last Wednesday, 19th October, it finishes 7th December.  

Touch began last Thursday 20th October and will continue every Thursday.

Twilight Hockey began yesterday Tuesdays 25th October and finishes 29 November.

Can all students involved in these sports please meet their coaches at Lindvart Park on the respective days at 3.30pm to get dressed and start by 4pm, all games are planned to finish at 5.30pm.

School Uniforms – compulsory

Our School Uniform order has arrived! Please come in to the school office if you wish to purchase some.

Next year we are making the wearing of school uniforms compulsory for all children.

Waimate North Show Day

All classes are busy completing entries for the Waimate North Show Day to be held on Saturday 12th November. There may also be a selected Super 12 Kapahaka group performing, more details later.

Student Council

We are having our second Student Council meeting today. Following this meeting we will advertise any news via the school newsletter.

Transition Day

All Year 6 children will be attending the last planned Transition Day at Kaikohe Intermediate School on Thursday 17th November (change of date) from approximately 9-2.30pm.  Whanau are welcome to attend with their tamariki to see what the school has to offer for next year.  The children will be involved in various classroom activities on this day that will give them some idea of what Year 7 will be like for them at Kaikohe Intermediate.  The Principal Freda Mokaraka will also be available to speak with whanau should you wish to.

Term 4 Focus

This term our school wide focus is Community oriented so could include a wide range of ideas and programmes such as supporting local community events, taking care of things in our community, being community orientated and what that involves etc

Due to the Kaikohe Show being out of school time we will now be contributing to and getting involved with the Waimate North Show due to happen on Saturday 12 November.

Kaikohe AFC Football

Kaikohe AFC Twilight Football.  Open to all - adults and children. Starting on 1st November, 6pm - 7.30pm at Lindvart Park, Kaikohe. No fees, 6 a-side teams picked on the night. Bring along water and sneakers - no bare feet or soccer boots. Come along and play and have some fun!

Public Health Nurse

A Public Health Nurse visits the school on a weekly basis, usually on a Wednesday.

My name is Bev Johnston and I am available to see students who have any health related issues, I can help with access to services such as  GP or Mobile Ear Caravan to name a few.

I am also able to assess and treat uncomplicated skin infections.
