Christmas Grotto

The Kaikohe Community Arts Council has prepared a Grotto at 81 Broadway for children to visit.  Many of our classes provided the Grotto with a Christmas tree they made.

Classes will be visiting the Grotto to see the wonderful work of The Arts Council and to see Santa this week.

We will really miss our Year 6 students who are moving on to Year 7 as they have all contributed in many ways to Kaikohe East School.  We wish them all the best for the years ahead.

Rheumatic Fever

Sore throats can damage your heart. Rheumatic Fever is a serious heart disease that is caused by a bacterial bug called streptococcal A. A simple throat swab can be taken from students with sore throats, then tested for the Streptococcal A bug. If the bug is present your child will be treated with a free 10-day course of antibiotics. It is important to complete this medication even if your symptoms improve.  During school holidays you are welcome to visit the  Broadway Health Centre where you are able to swab your throat for FREE.

As part of the School Based Rheumatic Fever Programme
