Thanks and Farewell
Our sincere thanks and fond farewell to the following staff:
To Mrs Miriam Logan who after teaching for more than 40 years will be retiring, this will be her last week with us but will be back in a relieving capacity next year.
To Whaea Angie Davis who is leaving her Teacher Aide position to take up new work at Café Malaahi.
A big thank you also and farewell to our Year 6 children who will be leaving us at the end of the year. Good luck to you all on your new journey, being a Year 7.
Welcome
We are pleased to announce that next year in Rangimārie Whaea Waiora Wihongi will be joining our staff. Waiora currently teaches at Kaikohe West School. We are looking forward to having her here.
We also welcome back to our school Devontei Yukich and her whanau.
End of Term 4
The school term ends on Friday 12th December at 1pm. Buses will not be running early.
2015 Term Dates
Term 1 begins 2nd February and ends 2nd April.
Term 2 begins 20th April and ends 3rd July.
Term 3 begins 20th July and ends 25th September.
Term 4 begins 12th October and ends 15th December.
Mainfreight Award Winner
Our special congratulations to Isabelle Palmer who is the recipient of the one award we present at the end of the year to a Year 6 student who has been selected by Staff.
Isabelle was selected for her amazing academic achievements and contribution to extra-curricular activities throughout her attendance at Kaikohe East School since starting here as a Year 1 in 2008.
Playground installation
During the holidays we are expecting our new playgrounds to be installed.
Principal’s Award
Congratulations to Akinihi Tuhiwai-Rogers who is the winner of the Principal’s Award for being an awesome all round student!
Holiday Office hours
The school office will be opened on the following dates from 9am to 1pm on Wednesday 21st, Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd Monday 26th and Friday 30th of January, 2015, for uniform purchases and for any general enquiries or enrolments. Whaea Chicky will also be available by cell phone should you need her over the holidays, her cell number is 021411534.
Survey Home
Our thanks to those whanau who completed the survey sent home recently. Over the holidays we will collate your feedback and share it. The winning survey drawn out today was Mariana Tuhiwai-Rogers!! Thank you for returning your survey, please call into the office to collect your prize, a new school polo shirt.
School Touch
Many thanks to our staff who organised Touch again this year and to the whanau who came along to support and help out with teams.
Free LunchOn Tuesday all children were treated to a yummy hot lunch provided by the New Zealand Network Charitable Trust. The lunch was delicious. We hope that this provision of lunch continues next year.
School Uniform 2015
We will be expecting all children in school uniform by the beginning of next year so come and see Kohi at the office about part time payments or purchase now!
School Polo shirts are $35 and you will receive a free pair of black pants while stocks last.
We also have the polar fleece jacket. These are priced according to sizes therefore from a size 6 – 14 will be $55 each any size bigger will cost $65 each.
End of Year Celebration

The school has a free standing oven for sale in great condition, $300. Please contact the office if interested.
