Retirement NewsAt the end of this term Mrs Neta Beazley who taught at Kaikohe East School for in excess of 30 years is retiring from teaching. Neta is currently a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour but has not been based at our school for about two years now.  Many of you may remember Mrs Beazley as being the teacher in “Room 13” We wish Neta lots of deserved rest and lots of gardening in her retirement.

Farewell and Thanks

Our farewell and thanks to Whaea Lana who has been relieving in Room 8 / Tumanako while Whaea Stevie is away. Whaea Stevie will be back from maternity leave next Thursday. Until then Whaea Claire Edmonds will be relieving in this class.

Chromebook/ipad use

Enclosed with this newsletter is a survey that we would really like whanau to complete and return to the school before the end of Term 3 about our children using Chromebooks and ipads in classrooms, whanau purchasing chromebooks and any thoughts you have about this.

Photos

School photos are back. We will not just send photos home with children unless whanau ask us to. Feel free to call in and collect your photos from the office.

If you wish to re-order class photos this can be done also by calling into the office with your order and payment.

Breakfast Club

Thanks to those of you who have already put your hand up to help with our breakfast club! It’s great to see whanau involved in our school. We are looking for more volunteers to please come in and help with our breakfast club. It runs from 8.15 am - 8.45 am. It is just monitoring our tamariki having breakfast, cooking toast, setting up cereal and loading the dishwasher. If there are any mornings you may be able to help please let us know.

Swap a Book day

Children can bring books from home they no longer want. Give to Mrs Maihi and on the last Monday of term they can choose another, or others, to take home. If this is successful we will make it a regular event.

Free Vision Testing - Free Glasses

Any children who were tested and need glasses can expect their new glasses at the beginning of next term.

A huge thank you to all tamariki and whanau for being a part of our Star Jam Day!...we were raising money for the Star Jam Organisation which gives young people with disabilities the chance to experience the buzz and thrill of performing and coming together through the common love of music and dance. Whether they sing, play an instrument or dance, they can do anything that showcases their amazing talents.

Our school won 3rd place for this event. We won a Teach Bluetooth Speaker!! Great job!
