Welcome

Rotary Speech Contest

Thank you to all our Whanau who came along to support our classroom finalists last week. In the competitive section our winners were:

1st Place – Kane Harris Room 12

2nd Place – Puawai Woodman Room 14

3rd Place – Kaya Wilcox Room 15

Tonight these three finalists will compete against other winners from other schools. Please come along to support them at the RSA, start time 6.30pm.

 

Term 3 Clubs

Any Whanau wishing to run a club activity or help a teacher out please contact the school office. We are hoping to start clubs in the second week back after the school holidays.

 

Saturday Netball

Many thanks to the coaches and whanau who came along to support our school teams on Saturday. This Saturday all teams are to meet their coaches at Lindvart Park by 8.30am please. All JMB Netball games will be over by 10.15am. 

Fees for the season are $10 per player payable at the school office. 

Please note that as from this Saturday we will only have 3 school teams playing, there will no longer be a Year 3 and 4 team.

Teams / Coaches /Managers are as follows:

Year 1 - 3 team – Whaea Harriet

Year 3-6 team –East Eagles – Whaea Katirna and Whaea Michelle

Year 3-6 team – East Hawks – Whaea Charlotte

 

Saturday HockeyMany thanks to our Whanau who helped out with Hockey on Saturday. Please remember that if your child arrives at Hockey without a mouthguard they will not be permitted to play.

Mrs Woodman’s team, East Two please be at the turf by 9.30am. Your coaches will be Whaea Lisa and Matua Willie, and Whaea Claire’s team please meet at the turf by 11.15am.

 

After School Hockey

Whaea Claire will be having hockey practices for her hockey team every Monday after school at the Lindvart Park turf starting this Monday 16th June. 

 

Manawanui/Rangimarie to Te Hana

On Thursday 26th June, this term Manawanui and Rangimarie are planning on going on a day trip to Te Hana o te Ao Marama Maori Village and Snow Planet. They will be leaving school at 7:30am traveling by bus and returning to school by 8:30pm.  Please note all permission slips and money $5 per child must be into the office by this Friday.

 

Mid Year Progress Report

Teachers are currently writing reports for all children who have been at our school for more than six weeks. These reports will come home in named envelopes next Wednesday with your child. If there is any information in your child’s report you wish to query please do not hesitate to come in and make a time to see your child’s teacher.

 

Disco Tomorrow and Friday

To assist with Sports fees this season we are having a disco in our school hall tomorrow for Juniors from 1.15pm and for Seniors on Friday. Cost is $2 per child.

 

New Enrolments

It is important that we know if you have a child in your Whanau who is turning 5 this year and will be attending our school or if you have any Whanau possibly moving to our school this year.

Please contact us or come and see us.

Bring the child’s birth certificate or passport and their plunket book or their before school check information if you can. We can still enrol your child without this information but do need it at some stage soon after they start school.

 

Measles outbreak

There is currently a measles outbreak in Hamilton. We have been advised by our School Public Health Nurse that if we have tamariki not vaccinated for measles to please let us know at the office, if there was an outbreak here in the mid north the unvaccinated tamariki would be advised to stay home.

 

Fire Brigade Sports

Fire Brigade sports for all Year 4-6 children will be on next Wednesday 2nd July if fine or Thursday 3rd is postponement day, at Lindvart Park, start time 10am for all codes. Whanau welcome to come and support our teams.

 

Matariki at Kohewhata

There is a Matariki Celebration to be held at Kohewhata Marae on Saturday 28th June from 1-7pm, all welcome!

 

Sustainable Rural Development Course

If any Whanau are interested in this fee free gardening course, it is being rolled out at our school on Mondays and Tuesdays from 21st July until 28 November. Course information is at the school office and contact phone is 0800 162 100
