Welcome to our new children

Welcome to the following new children: Oshearne Reihana, Jayne and Maz Simmonds-Gray, Tristan Cowper, Henare Tarawa, Reihana Samuels, Cordez Sorensen, Billie and Brooke Williams, Zyon Johnstone and Dottie Hohepa.

 

No School tomorrow or Friday

All Whanau are reminded that there will be no school for Kaikohe East children on Thursday 6th February because it is Waitangi Day and no school on Friday 7th February. This day has been scheduled a term break so that we finish at the end of the year on a Friday and finish the year with the correct number of days at school.

 

Term Dates for 2014

Term 1 – Wednesday 29th January to Thursday 17th April

Term Break – Friday 7th February for Kaikohe East School and Kaikohe Intermediate only

Term 2 – Monday 5th May to Friday 4th July

Term 3 – Monday 21st July to Friday 26th September

Term 4 – Monday 13th October to Friday 12th December

 

Free Stationery

A reminder if your child attends for the first ten days of school with no absences he/she will receive their stationary free. This will apply to all enrolments in Term 1.

 

Fruit in Schools

Fruit delivery for the Fruit in Schools programme has been delayed due to the Fruit Fly being discovered in Whangarei.

 

Swim safe Lessons

The Top Energy Water Safe programme is here at our school next week, starting on Monday 10th through until Friday 14th February. All children are expected to take part so can Whanau please remind their child/children bring their swimming gear everyday next week. Swimming times may need to be altered.

All classes will have up to five lessons.  The first two lessons are water safety and then the next three are stroke development.

 

Whanau hui/Sausage Sizzle 25th February

All Whanau are invited to a Whanau hui here on Tuesday 25th February.

This is a time when Whanau can come along, have a kai, meet the teacher/s of their child/children, ask any questions and hear about what is happening in your child/children’s classroom/s for the term.

We will have two sessions to try to accommodate all Whanau. The first session will start at 3pm with Sausage Sizzle and then Whanau may go to the class/es of their children to talk with and to the teacher/s. Then at 5pm the second session will start for the next group of Whanau. There will be a Sausage Sizzle at 5pm followed by classroom time with teachers from, 5.30-6.30pm.

Everyone is welcome, choose which session time suits you and come along.

You will receive a ticket for attending from your child’s teacher that puts you in the draw for a prize.

 

Class Letters

Included with this newsletter is each class’s newsletter for Term 1. This may include routines, ideas and times specific to your child’s class. If you have any queries re this please do not hesitate to come and see us.

 

School Uniform

We have School uniform top size samples available for children to try on.  Please come into the school office to try them on and make an order for 2014.  All tops are $35 each and should be delivered to us by the end of January. Any black bottom can be worn with the school top.  Uniforms are not compulsory this year but will be by next year.

 

Sports Co-ordinator

Kaikohe East/West/Kura Kaupapa Schools are seeking to employ a one-year fixed term School Sports co-ordinator to work between and with the schools to ensure that our Year 1-6 tamariki and staff are receiving quality sport/physical education support and programmes.

The position is for 30 hours per week, from 10.00am through until 4pm, commencing on Monday 24th February 2014 and ending 19th December 2014(Term time only).

Applicant must provide a relevant CV indicating their sporting, coaching ability and their ability to work with children in a primary school setting.

Subway lunches only

As from today for Term 1 only at this stage we will only be offering subway lunches due to Trumps Café closing down.
