At our most recent Board of Trustees meeting the following staff were appointed to teaching positions at our school.

Welcome to Whaea Tiha Harrison, Whaea Angela Wallis, Whaea Claire Edmonds and Whaea Michelle Hudson who have all been appointed to permanent teaching positions.  And congratulations to Whaea Alison Davis and Whaea Tyme Rata who have been appointed to teaching positions for the year.

At the end of this year we will sadly be saying farewell to Mr Graeme Shaw who is retiring, to Whaea Tia Sarich who is leaving to teach at Okaihau Primary and to Whaea Barbara Phillips and Whaea Liz Atkinson who have been relieving at our school in 2017.

Whakapakiri Challenge

Thank you so much to all that turned out to the Whakapakari Challenge at Ohaeawai School. We appreciate the whanau that were able to make it. Our kids played hard and fair. They cleaned up in netball. Kaikohe East!!!! We didn’t win the shield this year, but hei aha!

Poutama Class 2018

A big thank you to the whanau who came along to listen to our exciting new ideas for Poutama 2018. We will be holding another hui for those who were unable to attend hopefully on the same day as our final assembly on Thursday 7th of December. We will confirm the date and time for this meeting next week.

Up to date Contact Details

Thanks to the whanau who have updated their contact details.  If you require another form please call into the office or give us a call to update records.

Bilingual spaces for 2018

Currently there are a number of spaces in the 2018 Maori Bilingual classes.  If you would like your child moved into a bilingual class, have a commitment to using te reo Maori at home and are willing to support your child/children please let us know so that we can consider them for either Manawanui, Rangimarie or Tumanako.

Photos

All school photos are available for collection from the office.  Rather than being sent home in bags and risking damage we would prefer whanau to call into the office to collect photos please.  If you do not come this week we will send them home next Wednesday.  It may still be possible to order photos by phoning 0800 501040.

Enrolments for Next Year

We are organising classes for next year. If you have a child that is turning five over the christmas break and will be attending our Kura next year please could you try to come in and enrol them before the end of the school year. Then we will have them placed in a class ready to start in January 2018.

Transition at our school

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th December all children will be working in their class group for 2018 and will spend both these days in their new class with their teacher for 2018.  On these two days the Year 6 children will spend time with teachers leaving at the end of this year. They will have planned activities on these days.

On the days leading up to Transition teachers will be moving into their new classrooms therefore classes may be doubled up to allow for the moving of furniture and resources to happen on Wednesday 6th December and Friday 8th December.

Kaikohe East Celebration

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all whanau to join us on Thursday December the 7th at 11.30 am in the hall for our final assembly for 2017. You will also be entertained by some amazing performers in our spectacular Talent Show. We look forward to seeing you there.
