Waitangi TripYesterday Room 5 and 6 went to Waitangi.  We went into James Busby’s house.  I felt scared when I walked into the house, so excited too.  When I walked into the house models were staring at me.  They were dressed in colourful clothes.  They had wigs on their heads.  They were colourful.  At the end we watched a show.

By Brady Beckham.

Term 3 Clubs

For Term 3, staff have confirmed, we will be running a clubs programme that all children opt into. There will be clubs suited to Year 1-3 children and clubs suited to Year 4-6 children.  Children will select from the choices available, two preferences and we will try to accommodate all requests.  If there are any Whānau members who are able and willing to help with a club or run a club probably for one afternoon a week please let us know. Club ideas could be: Kapahaka, knitting, carving, drawing,

mosaics, ukulele playing etc. The school will provide any resources needed for a club.

Kutus

Please do not be offended if you are contacted by a staff member or our Public Health Nurse asking that you check your child’s hair for kutus and or eggs. Remember we have free combs and lotions at school that we will give to Whānau if they call into the office.  We have had children very irritable at school because they are so itchy and can’t settle to work. We must all be consistent about checking our children’s’ hair, by doing so we will have more chance of getting rid of these pests!

Kids Can Dress Up Day

On Friday 9th August we are planning a Dress up day to raise funds for Kids Can.  Kids Can have helped us so very much with food, jackets/coats knit oil and combs etc. On this day we are asking for all children to come in “dress up” clothes and buy a $2 sausage sizzle. All funds raised will go to Kids Can.
