Merry ChristmasThis is our last newsletter for the year.  We would like to wish all whanau a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  A super special thank you and farewell to our staff leaving this year:

Special mention to all our Teacher Aides who have been on fixed term contracts and may not be returning next year – Te Roopu Kopa, April Reihana, Hohepa Roberts, Ani Milner, Whaea Shayla, Doreen Tau and Makoia Howard.

The Kaikohe East School Board met at the school today at 1:30pm

Bilingual spaces for 2018

Currently there are a number of spaces in the 2018 Maori Bilingual classes.  If you would like your child moved into a bilingual class, have a commitment to using te reo Maori at home and are willing to support your child/children please let us know so that we can consider them for either Manawanui, Rangimarie or Tumanako.Kaikohe

Reports home Most children will be bringing their end of year school report in an envelope today.  

Kaikohe East CelebrationWe extend a warm welcome to all whanau to join us tomorrow, Thursday December the 7th at 11.30 am in the hall for our final assembly for 2017. The programme for the celebration is included with today’s newsletter.

Holiday Projects

During the Christmas holidays we will have a few projects being completed.  The first is the upgrade of Rooms 3 and 4 – starting next Wednesday 13th December, new vinyl and paint in the office area, all carpet and upholstery cleaned, a new pool cover installed and new carpet in Room 17.

We are organising classes for next year. If you have a child that is turning five over the christmas break and will be attending our Kura next year please could you try to come in and enrol them before the end of the school year.

Transition at our school

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th December all children will be working in their class group for 2018 and will spend both these days in their new class with their teacher for 2018.  On these two days the Year 6 children will spend time with teachers leaving at the end of this year. They will have planned activities on these days.

On the days leading to transition the moving of furniture and resources will happen on Wednesday 6th December and Friday 8th December.

Duffy Book OrdersDuffy $5 Books have arrived. Books will be sent home today to the people who ordered them.

There is 1 order with no name on it. Please call into office if it’s yours.

LunchesThere will be limited school lunches from next week and no orders taken on Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th December, the last two days of school.

Next year we are having to consider not having school lunch orders however we will still have breakfast food, fruit, milk, snacks and bread available in all classes.

HolidaysThe last day of school is Thursday 14th December.  School will finish at 12pm on this day.
