Welcome

A very special “Welcome” to the following students and their whānau to our school this week: Nepia Hepi-Tetitaha.

 

Please VOTE!This year the Election will be on the 20th September and Kaikohe East School is a polling booth!

 

Please start bringing “Yes I Voted” Stickers to school as soon as possible, if you have more than one child at school, the stickers will be divided equally between their classes.  The class with the most stickers wins a trip to Paihia!!

 

Kai at school

All Whānau please remember that we have plenty of yummy kai at school we are more than happy to give your child/children throughout the day. Please do not think that because you don’t have kai for breakfast or lunch that you need to keep your child/children at home. Send them to school, we have weetbix, milk, bread etc for toast and lots of snack foods!

 

Whānau Hui

All teachers will be available to meet with whānau to discuss their child/children’s progress to date from 3pm on Thursday 18th September.

At 2.10pm in the school hall there will be performances by our groups representing us at the Cultural Festival, come along listen to our talented performers then meet with your child’s teacher. 

Teachers will be available to meet with whānau from 3-5.30pm on this day. If you require a specific time please contact your child’s teacher otherwise come along and see them when they are free.

Room 1 and 3 teachers are contacting whānau to make individual appointment times, also we would like to let you know Mr Shaw may be 10 minutes late this afternoon as he is travelling back from his mother’s Birthday.

 

Cultural Festival

The Cultural Festival will be held at Northland College. All performers will attend the dress rehearsal on Monday 22nd September and the performance for all whānau to attend will be on Wednesday 24th September, start time 11am. Entry by koha! Nau mai haere mai!

 

FNDC Pool Submissions

The FNDC wish to consult about a proposal to build a new swimming pool in our town.  We are sending home a submission form for whānau to fill out if they wish to.  Part of the form you will see has been completed and we are asking for whānau to complete the rest of the form and return to us by Thursday 26th September. Loud Shirt Day!

Loud Shirt Day is this Friday!  We are raising money to help give deaf kids a voice.  Gold coin donation.  Our theme for the day is 70’s – Flares & Florals!

We will have a parade in the hall after karakia.

 

School Photos

All photo orders are now at the school office, parents can collect them at any time or contact us to send them home with children.  If you want to make any photo re-orders please contact the school office, payments will need to be in by Thursday 26th September.

 

Hockey TournamentCongratulations to our Year 4, 5 & 6 hockey team that travelled to Whangarei yesterday to participate in the annual Primary Schools tournament, we are all so incredibly proud! Thank you to Whaea Claire and Mrs Croucher who travelled with the team.

 

Hockey Tournament

Thanks to all our hockey children and whānau who attended the Bay of Islands Hockey prize giving last Saturday.  Congratulations to both teams who each won a trophy and to Jamaya Stewart, Joel Harris and Lazarus Edmonds on making the BOI Representative teams!

 

Spring Festival       

Spring Festival on Saturday 27th September at the Bay of Islands International Academy Purerua, Te Tii from 3 – 9pm.  Local food, Troy Kingi, games, artists, fishing competition and much more.  See Facebook page “Bay Academy My Spring Festival”.

 

RDA OpeningLast Saturday the Bay of Islands Riding for the Disabled opened there brand new covered arena! Thank you to all the staff, children and their families who were able to attend this special event.
