This Friday 24th August – school closes at 12pm

This Friday 24th of August school will be closing at 12pm so that all staff can attend a professional development afternoon at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Kaikohe with all the other staff from the schools within our community of Learning, Te Arahura.  Buses will be running early and we will be expecting all children to either be collected by 12p

m on this day or walk home.

Transition Day at Kaikohe Intermediate School

Our Year 6’s will be going to Transition day at Kaikohe Intermediate on Wednesday 29th August.

On this day they will be given an enrolment package from the Intermediate for whānau to complete and return to the Intermediate once complete.  Any questions pertaining to the enrolment package feel free to phone the Intermediate School on 09 4011667 and speak to Whaea Freda the Principal.

Hockey

Player of the Day for last Saturday was Fern Edmonds for Mini Sticks for outstanding attack play.

Hockey Prize giving this Saturday 10am, Lindvart Park. Remember to wear your running shoes Parents vs tamariki at 11am.

Kutus

A reminder to whānau that we have Kutu lotion and combs available at school to be collected by an adult.  Please be sure to check your child’s hair regularly and use the lotion or combs we are able to provide.

Cultural Festival 2018

On Wednesday 19th September – dress rehearsal at the Kaikohe Memorial Hall, Friday 21st September Performance Day – entry by koha.  We are pleased to have three Kapa Haka participating from each Syndicate and a dance group.

Last week we had a staff hui about the teaching of Fractions – we learnt about what we should be teaching at each Year level and trialled some activities and problems that we could use with our children.

Staff Professional Development – Maths - FractionsThis year we are focussing on improving the way that we teach Maths.  We have two facilitators that come to our school during each term to support and develop teacher understanding around the teaching of Maths.  They work in classrooms with teachers and children.
