Welcome

The biggest, warmest welcome to all our whānau and friends for Term 2!!

This week we welcome the following new students and whānau to our school:

Whaiora Tarawa, Giselle Tutahi, Kaylah Stretch and Huatahi Maunsell.

 

Farewell Matua Aaron and Inakoi

Our special thanks and farewell to Inakoi and her dad Matua Aaron who left our school at the end of term 1.  Best wishes to you both!

 

HockeyOur Hockey Open Day Tournament was a great success. Both our Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 teams came second place. A big thank you to all who came to support our tamariki. We are looking forward to a great season Can all players please meet Whaea Rehutai on Saturday at 10.30 to get ready and warm up for our game at 11.00am.

 

Netball

Bay of Islands Netball competition is starting this Saturday 14th May 2016 with grading.  We have a Year 3 and 4 team. Their coach is Mrs Stillwell and team manager is Whaea Chicky.  We have a Year 5 and 6 team.  Their coach at school is Matua Alb and their coach/manager on a Saturday is Whaea Chrissy Witehira.

All players need to arrive at Lindvart Park around 8am with a water bottle and appropriate shoes to play in.  They will be given a uniform when they arrive and uniforms will be collected at the end of their games.

This week also there is a blessing of the new courts starting at 7am for any whanau that wish to attend.

 

Netball for Junior School

Whaea Lydia will be holding practice every Wednesday lunchtime for those who have registered in the Year 1 and 2 teams.  The two mixed teams will have a short game against each other on a Friday lunchtime. This will teach the basics of Netball and give them the opportunity to develop their skills.

 

League

School league will begin on the 18th May at 4pm, all children will be notified closer to the time.

 

SoccerA reminder that Kaikohe Soccer Club is running soccer for 4-8 year olds every Wednesday afternoon from 4pm at Lindvart Park.  All welcome!

 

Kaikohe East School

Board of Trustees' Election 2016

Nominations are invited for the election of four parent representatives to the Board of Trustees.

A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will be posted to all eligible voters.

You can nominate another person to stand as a candidate, or you can nominate yourself (make sure you sign both parts of the form).

Additional nomination forms can be obtained from the school office.

Nominations close at noon on the 20th May 2016 and may be accompanied by signed candidates' statements.

The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during normal school hours.

There will also be a list of candidates' names, as they come to hand, for inspection at the school.

Voting closes at noon on the 3rd June 2016.

Transition Days

This term all our Year 6 tamariki will be visiting Kaikohe Intermediate School on Wednesday 8th an Thursday 9th June.  All whanau are welcome to attend or visit the Intermediate on either of these days.

 

Breakfast Club every day

A big thank you to our volunteers Ani, Kiri, Sophie, Lois and Crystal who are currently running the breakfast club. Your help is much appreciated. Breakfast Club is in the hall every morning from 8.00-8.30 am. All children and their whanau are welcome to come and enjoy a nutritious breakfast to kick start their day.

 

Literacy and Numeracy groupsThis term Mr Shaw has started a special Literacy group that works with him every morning from 9 -9.30am to help them make faster progress in reading and writing.  Next week Whaea Kelli will be starting a special Maths group who will work from 11.30-12.15 every day to help them make faster progress in Maths.  All children in Mr Shaw’s group brought a letter home last week.  Whaea Kelli will be sending home a letter today to the children who will start in her Maths group.  As the year goes on these groups will change.  If you have any queries don’t hesitate to come in and see either Mr Shaw or Whaea Kelli.

Parenting Roadshow
