Farewell and Thanks

During lockdown we were sad to receive Matua Sid Erueti’s resignation but glad that he has secured full time work at the Kawakawa Swimming pools.

Back to Level 1

We are pleased to have more children return to school this week particularly since Monday’s announcement about returning to Level 1.

Our school will continue to remind and practise safe hand washing and drinking routines.

We look forward to seeing everybody back at school soon. If any whānau have any worries do not hesitate to get in touch with either your chlid’s class teacher or Whaea Chicky.

Winter Sport Term 3

Netball and hockey will begin the first Saturday of term 3. In order to get our numbers right for teams, permission slips will go home today and to be returned by Friday 12th June 2020.

Basketball will also start term 3 and will be played on Mondays.

Due to having most sport being played in Term 3 2020, we will be needing whānau support to coach and manage teams for Saturday netball and hockey. We would need the same support for basketball coaching and managing teams on a Monday afternoon.

Please help give our kids sporting experience by coaching and managing a team.

Contact our school office and leave a message for Whaea Claire or Whaea Lydia.

Welcome A very special and warm welcome to the following new tamariki and their whānau who started this week!

Shakeera Noa, Kaila Rowe and Arafel Needham.

Future Ferns Netball

Future Ferns Saturday Netball will start on Saturday 25th July and end on Saturday 26th September.

We will also need whānau support on a Saturday, teams will practise at school during school break times.

Please remember that the school will pay for any fees associated with playing Netball for the school.

Junior Basketball

Just a quick update around junior basketball in Kaikohe. Northland College have indicated their gym may be able to be booked and accessed soon.

Matua Taal Smith would like everyone know that he is thinking that a third term module on Monday afternoon/evenings could be a good way to re-start. He is thinking he will be organising U9, U11 and U13 grades.

Our teacher in charge of Junior Basketball is Whaea Claire in Room 15, please be sure she is aware of your child if they wish to play. They will need to be given a letter for whānau to read, sign and return to school. Because Monday nights are our meeting nights we would appreciate any whānau help for this please. Let Whaea Claire know or call the school office if you can help out with teams.

Please remember that the school will pay for any fees associated with playing Netball for the school.

Matariki Art

Here is some of the art work our students have completed so far this term with Akau. These are some of the many Matariki Kites.

Inside the Classroom

The last few weeks the children in Room 3 wrote about what they liked about lockdown and what they didn't like here are a few of their sentences.

Disliked

Nivaan - I was sad my sister was happy. I like learning at school. My sister likes learning at home.

Jaedin - I did not get to ride my motorbike. I could not see my big brother.

J'zahn - I could not ride my quad bike because it was broken. I could not go to my Nana's and Grandma's house!

Liked

Caylee - I loved doing my science experiment with my mum and my dad and my brother. We put in red and blue and yellow paint.

Te Kawau - I liked riding my bike. I was not allowed past the mailbox.

Graduate Profile Review

Next week whānau will be asked to either complete an online or hard copy survey about our draft school graduate profile.

The school graduate profile is a document that we want to share with whānau as it helps us develop our tamariki into the best they can be by setting goals and expectations to work towards. Please see our draft “Graduate Profile” below.
