Welcome

This week we would like to welcome the following children and their whanau to our school: Tyniqua Whiri-Te Rangi-Nimo, Zahria Renata, Kyaleha Tauteka-Wharerau and Kaiza and Phoenix Bright.

Netball – Year 3 and 4 Coach!

We would like to thank Whaea Lani who has volunteered to coach this year’s, Year 3 and 4 Netball team, practise is at school every Thursday 1-2pm on one, we really appreciate it!

Public Health Nurse

Bev Johnston and Claire Forrest are the Public Health Nurses working with Kaikohe East School. One of us will visit the school weekly, this is generally on a Thursday. We are available to support with health related issues, these include:- Skin infection assess and treatment, opportunistic throat swabs, referral to other health Professionals, hearing and vision follow up. Please feel free to contact us or leave a message with school if you would like us to see your child.

Breakaway Holiday Programme

All children will be bringing home a leaflet today with information about a school holiday programme being offered by Te Hau Ora o Ngapuhi. Contact person is Teina Wikaira, phone 09 4052647

CongratulationsKowhai Johnson from Room 1!! The winner of our “Whanau Hui School Polo and Jacket” draw. This was drawn at our last school assembly.

No whips at school

Whanau are asked to remind their children not to bring whips to school or they will be confiscated. Whips that children are making are potentially dangerous and are not permitted in the school grounds.

Sunday, 2nd April, is the Weetbix Tryathlon event in Waitangi. Gates open at 7am with the first race to commence at 8:15am. All athletes will bring home a reminder notice today.

Weetbix TryathlonTomorrow our Tryathlete’s will head to Paihia to have a practise run of the actual course, they will leave school at 9.30am and will return by 2.30pm.

Parents are asked to please collect their children’s bikes from school on Friday after school.

Trip to a Dairy Farm

To date, Manawanui (Room 7) and Rangimarie (Room 9) have organised to visit Suzanne’s Farm at Ohaeawai on Friday 7th April. Classes will leave school at approximately 10am then be returning to school at 2pm. Children will be bringing a letter with details in it today.

Their learning focus will be on the Milk process: From the Farm Gate to the School Fridge.

There is no cost for the trip as it is and will be part of the class learning programmes. Any queries re the trip please come and see Whaea Michelle or Whaea Waiora.

Gates

This week we are reminding children not to walk through the school carpark or down by the caretakers shed when entering or leaving school. Children should only use the gate up by Mangakahia Road or Purdy Street.

Ukelele Lessons

Lessons have been going well for the last few weeks, here are a couple of pictures from the groups attending.

Children’s Readers

Could whanau please check their homes and if they find any school readers please send them back to school. For every book returned your child will receive a “tanga” card.

Room 6Yesterday, Room 6 got to see a Deutz-Fahr tractor and Gaspardo seed drill. We learnt about the tractor and why farmers plant seed and crops. Thank you Matua J and Jacobs Contracting for letting us look at the tractor.
