Welcome

This week we welcome the following new students:

We also would like to welcome our new Resource Teacher of the Deaf who will be based at our school, Debbie Lawrence who has taken over from Whaea Marama who left last year.

 

No School tomorrow

Due to school being closed tomorrow because of Waitangi Day, the newsletter is coming home today, Tuesday.

 

Breakfast Club

Our Breakfast Club started again on Monday in the hall from 8am until 8.30am. If you are able to come and help with Breakfast Club please come and speak with teacher in charge, Mrs Jarvis.

 

Radio Tautoko at Breakfast Club

Matini Piripo and his crew from Radio Tautoko will be in our hall on Tuesday 12th February from 8.15-9.00am. This is part of a promotion to encourage Healthy Breakfast Eaters. There will be lots of spot prizes to give away so make sure you send your child along to have breakfast at school on this day.

Gala DayThe scheduled day for our Gala Day is Saturday 9th March 2013. We are asking for whānau help with things such as providing: hangi wood, newspaper, items for the white elephant, cakes and help at stalls on the day. If you wish to volunteer any help please contact Whaea Chicky or Kohi in the school office. This years fundraising efforts will go towards purchasing bikes and helmets for our children to use on the newly developed bike track.

 

Stationery

On Friday 8th February all the children who have attended school for the first two weeks will be receiving their stationery pack free.

All other children will be given an envelope indicating how much their stationery will cost. Stationery envelopes with the correct money enclosed can be dropped off at the school office. Packs will be organised and taken to rooms.

 

From the Dental Clinic

Parents who have pre-schoolers please come and enrol your children at the Dental Clinic, also thank you to all the parents for their prompt return of their children’s forms.

Uniform choices

At the Gala Day we are hoping to have at least 2 samples of uniforms for whānau to comment on.

WINZ has advised that whānau are able to gain assistance from them when purchasing uniforms.

 

Parent/Child/Teacher Hui

Whānau Meetings for Term 1 are planned for Tuesday March 19th and Wednesday March 20th. School will close at 12.30pm on Tuesday 19th.

Wednesday meetings will start at 3.15pm. This is a great opportunity for whānau to come along and discuss how we can work together to ensure success for our tamariki. Details re booking a time will be sent out next week. Remember that if you do not make a time you will be given one anyway.

 

School Lunches

Every day Trumps Café will be providing lunch orders. Orders can be made with Whaea Beeby in the school hall from 8.30am. Orders are not able to made directly from Trumps. 

 

Swimming Club

Kaikohe Swim Club started on Monday 4th February from 4-6pm at the Kaikohe East School pool.  If you missed but still wish to attend feel free to contact Beeby 4011523 or 0211102244

 

Gardening Certificate

There is an opportunity for more of our school whānau to be involved in a Gardening Certificate being offered at our school garden by North Tec. If any more whānau are interested in joining this wonderful opportunity can you please contact or come and see Whaea Michelle Hudson who works mostly in Rangimārie. If you have already registered your interest Whaea Michelle will be in contact soon with the enrolment date.
