School Photos

PhotoLife will be here to take class and individual photos on Thursday 28 September. Your children will bring home a photo payment envelope with their name(s) on it today.

Envelopes need to be returned to the school by Wednesday 27 September. If your child did not receive an envelope contact the school office. If you have any questions about school photos call PhotoLife on 0-800-501040.


Kaikohe Intermediate - Open DayKaikohe Intermediate School extends a warm welcome to all Year 6 Parents, Caregivers and Whanau to our Transition Day and Open Day on Thursday 7 September – Starting at 9.30am. Come and see what our kura can offer your child in 2018/2019.

All Kaikohe East Year 6 students are taking part in this day. The focus will be on spending some time in the school marae, learning about tikanga and the school’s.vision.

Year 6 children will bring home Intermediate enrolment packs at the end of the day.

Touch Rugby

Next term we will enter some teams into an after school weekly touch tournament at Lindvart Park. If you are keen to coach please let us know. It will be every Thursday starting week 1.


HockeyThe 2017 End of Year Prize Giving is at 10:00am on Saturday 9 September in the upstairs lounge in the Lindvart Park Pavilion.

This year we will be doing a shared lunch after prize giving, can every family bring a plate please (drinks will be supplied).

On the day we ask that players leave the seating for Adults and - teams assemble themselves together on the floor in front of the chairs.


Rugby League Tournament

Next Wednesday 13 September a Rugby League Tournament will be held at Lindvart Park from 10am-2pm for year 5-6 children. Whaea Claire and Matua Alma will be taking a team over to participate. Tamariki need a packed lunch, drink and sneakers. Please let the office know if your child needs shoes.


Life Education CaravanThe Life Education caravan is at our school this week.  Each class goes to the caravan with their teacher twice and will meet Harold the Giraffe and the Life Education teacher Terri Gravatt.

The main focus of the visits are related to our term theme “Hauora”.


Election 2017Election Day is Saturday 23 September and voting begins on 11 September. The Electoral Commission wants everyone to enrol and vote.

2017 Bay Marlins Tball/Slow Pitch Little League

Competition will start the first Wednesday returning after the School Holidays ( Wednesday 18 October). Further info for this will be sent out real soon so please watch this space. Please let the office know if you can coach a team.

On Monday 25 September Del Rameka will be at Kaikohe East School to run a coaching session for the school teams.


Cultural Festival

We are excited to once again be a part of this year’s Cultural Festival which is to be held at Kaikohe Intermediate School hall or the Kaikohe Memorial Hall.  All school groups involved will go to the Intermediate School or the Memorial Hall on Tuesday 19 September for a dress rehearsal and then for the performance day. All whanau are invited to attend the performance on Thursday 21 September at 10am.  Entry by koha.  A detailed programme will be advertised soon in the newsletter.


The Okaihau Kaikohe Traverse is a Kaikohe Rotary fun family event on the Rail Trail on Sunday 1 October. Walk or run 9km, 14km or 21km. Free buses from Kaikohe to the start. The finish is at the Kaikohe Pioneer Village live day where there will be lots of fun activities and lots of prizes. Go to www.kaikoherotary/t for details and registrations. Inappropriate Food

Children are not to bring fizzy drinks, energy drinks, jelly crystals, roll-ups, lollies, drink sachets, big packets of snack foods or biscuits. These items will be taken from the children and returned to them at the end of the day to take home.
