Welcome

This week we would like to welcome the following students, and their whānau, to our school: Kaylene and Paris Yukich-Warren.

School Closed for April Holidays

A reminder to whānau that school will close on Friday 13th April for the April School Holidays. Term 2 will start on Monday 30th April.

Whānau Survey 2018

The whānau survey has ended and is being collated. We will start responding to and discussing ideas about where to next in the Term 2 newsletters. Thanks to all that contributed.

Friday Fun Day

A big thank you to the whānau that came along to support our Friday Fun Day. We were surprised by the response, the children loved it and whānau that came commented how relaxed and enjoyable it was. We are unsure about how many whānau visited classrooms and whether or not the timing of the day was good. Any whānau that have ideas about the day please contact us and let us know your thoughts.

Weetbix Tryathlon

A reminder that this event is on this Sunday in Waitangi. If your child is involved in the school team Whaea Kelli has been posting information on the school Facebook page and is sending home a letter with all participants. Any queries at all please get in touch with her.

Here is some information from the Tryathlon website.

The Bay of Islands Weetbix Kids Tryathlon is located at Waitangi, adjacent to the Treaty Grounds. The Tryathlon will begin with the swim leg at Te Tii Bay in the ocean. TRYathletes are generally able to stand-up during the short swim, however we do encourage everyone to give swimming a go! The Transition area is located opposite the Waitangi Copthorne Hotel The bike leg is across the bridge towards Paihia and on the roads surrounding Te Tii Marae, and the run leg is around Waitangi adjacent to the Treaty Grounds. You can download our course map from the Maps tab below to see the full routes. The best areas for parking will be announced in our event information emails to registered participants and on our Facebook page closer to the event date.

Netball Letter

Children wanting to play netball for the school on Saturday’s at Lindvart Park will be bringing home a letter today with some details. Any queries please come and see Whaea Tyme in Room 9 or Matua James. JMB Netball will begin on 5th May.

Lunches

A reminder that we have school lunches every Thursday – sausage sizzle $2 and juicies $1 and Friday is pie day – pies $2, juicies $1

Sausage sizzle orders are taken in classrooms and Pie orders in the hall. Any late orders in the office!

Breakfast Club

Transition Days for Year 6

Two transition days for the year 6 tamariki have been planned for Tuesday 12th June and Wednesday 5th September. In Term 4 whānau will be contacted to start the enrolment process

iMoko Registrations

Please return registration forms that were distributed last week to the office, or call in if you need another one.

Bus Bay

All whānau are reminded that the bus bay must be kept clear at ALL times from 2.45pm until 3.45pm please. Do not use this as a stop or pick up place for children.

School Finishing Early

On Friday May 11th our school will be closing at 12pm to allow all staff to attend planned professional development at Northland College. All school buses will run early from 12pm on this day. Alternatively let your teacher know now what will happen to your child/children on this day and give them your best contact phone number for the day. We will send an additional notice home soon to ensure all whānau know this is happening and we know what is happening to your child/children on this day.

Cleaning Contract Tender

The Board of Trustees are meeting today to consider cleaning contract tenders submitted. The new contractors will start duties on Monday 9th April.

Swimming Pool Closed

The school swimming pool is now closed.
