Welcome

A very special welcome to Maurice Grey and his whānau.  He started at our school this week.

 

Principal's AwardCongratulations to this week’s Principals Award recipient Puawai Woodman, for being an awesome role model and leading a school club!

 

School Uniform Giveaway

Recently we were lucky enough to receive some black casual pants from Kids Can so we have decided to throw a pair of these in for Whānau who have already purchased a school uniform top or who purchase a top/s in Term 3.  All children who have not received their free pair of pants will be given them to bring home today.

Pant stocks are limited so be in quick, buy a school top for $35 and receive a pair of black pants free!!

 

Whole School Karakia

All classes will be starting their day with morning karakia in the hall when the first bell goes at 8.55am.

 

Whānau Hui

All teachers will be available to meet with Whānau to discuss their child/children’s progress to date from 3pm on Thursday 18th September.

At 2.10pm in the school hall there will be performances by our groups representing us at the Cultural Festival, come along listen to our talented performers then meet with your child’s teacher.  Teachers will be available to meet with whānau from 3-5.30pm on this day. If you require a specific time please contact your child’s teacher otherwise come along and see them when they are free.

 

School Photos

Our school photo day is scheduled for the 3rd September 2014.  Children will be bringing order forms home with today’s newsletter.  All orders and money must be returned to the school office by the 1st September, there will be extra order forms available at the school office.

 

Lunchtime Discos

Tomorrow, Thursday 14th August, there will be a lunchtime disco for our juniors and Friday 15th August a lunchtime disco for our seniors. It will cost $2 for entry into the disco and there will be glow sticks and flashing rings for sale from 50cents to $2.

 

 

Cultural Festival

This year we are pleased to have at least three groups representing our school at the Cultural Festival which will be held at Northland College. All performers will attend the dress rehearsal on Monday 22nd September and the performance for all whānau to attend will be on Wednesday 24th September, start time 11am. Entry by koha! Nau mai haere mai!

 

Saturday Hockey

Please remember that if your child arrives at Hockey without a mouthguard they will not be permitted to play. Can Mrs Woodman’s team please be at the turf by 9.30am and Whaea Claire’s team to meet at the turf at 10.30am.

 

Breakfast Club

This term some of our senior students have stepped up as true leaders and are now running our Breakfast Club alongside one of the teachers every morning at school from 8:15-8:45am. Please encourage your tamariki to come along and enjoy breakfast with their friends. If there are any parents or whānau who can volunteer their time to help monitor breakfast club even if it’s once a term your contribution will be much appreciated.

 

Pioneer Village Trip

Rooms 14 and 4 will be going to visit The Pioneer Village on Monday 25th August as part of our “Change” inquiry, further information will come home closer to the date.

 

Kids for Kids

We have a school choir who practised hard to take part in the Kids for Kids concert event held in Kerikeri at the Turner Centre on August 11th 2014. 

Touch Coaching Course

Level One Touch NZ Coaching Course, Saturday 23rd August at the Northland College Gym 9am – 3.30pm, $10 per person.  Please contact Bodean Rogers 0210723960.
