Welcome

A special welcome to the following new children and their whānau to our school:

Frank Tok, Hokianga Komene, Ilonzo Stephens, Boston and Tyson Takie, Blair Anderson, Ahina, Cyrus and Tyson Witehira

A special welcome to Matua Waitai Tau who is in Room 17 (Monday – Wednesday) and in Room 15 (Thursday and Friday) completing his teacher training.

Welcome Back

A special welcome back to Whaea Waiora and Whaea Stevie who have returned after maternity leave.  Whaea Waiora is teaching Juniors in Room 7 and Whaea Stevie in teaching Seniors in Room 17.

Class teacher changes

This term we welcome to Room 10 Mrs Shields who will be team teaching with Whaea Joy for this term.  For Term 3 we welcome Whaea Alison Davis to Poutama.

Food for Life Hot Lunch Day Monday

Last term we trialled a hot lunch provided by a volunteer group from Whangarei – Food for Life. 

Following this we have decided to continue with this hot lunch programme for Term 3 every Monday 29th August in the hall for all classes.  First lunch will be from 12-12.30pm for the following classes: 

Ngā Kākano, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9

And the second lunch will be from 12.45-1.10pm for these classes: 

R10, Poutama, R14, R15, R16, R17

Special thanks to Kaikohe Bunnings for donating us 10 tables and 30 chairs for our lunch programme.  We are hoping to have other organisations support us with more tables/chairs or equipment needed.

Hockey

Mini Sticks, Whaea Michelle’s team are to please meet at the turf at 9.45am.

All seniors games will now start at 12pm Saturdays at Lindvart park. Please meet Whaea Claire at 11.45am.

Fun Sticks, Whaea Kohi’s team/s, has ended for the year, however, BO I Hockey will still be having Saturday morning sessions if you wish to take your child/children along, you are more than welcome.

Netball

Whaea Claire and Whaea Tyme are organising a school netball team to compete this Sunday at a local tournament to be held at Lindvart Park.  The team players will bring home a separate letter re this today. Any questions please contact either Whaea Claire or Whaea Tyme. Players will need to be sure they are at Lindvart Park by 8.30am on Sunday.

Life Education Caravan

We are pleased to have Whaea Mandy here to kick start our school wide Term theme “Hauora” with all classes over the next few days.

Cultural Festival

The annual Cultural Festival has been planned to happen this term.  There will be a few Kaikohe East School groups preparing to perform at this annual event which will be held at Kaikohe Memorial Hall at 10am on Thursday 19th September.  All performing groups will be required to attend a dress rehearsal on Tuesday 17th September at 10am.

A programme will be shared closer to the time of the festival.

Holiday ProjectsOver the school holidays we were pleased to have new water fountains installed, our old hall windows and doors replaced with aluminium joinery and Room 15’s interior painted.

Basketball

Basketball will start on Thursday 5th of August 2019 at Northland College from 4pm. For any of our primary students interested. Please see Whaea Claire.

Term 3 – Dance and Ukulele

BoDeene Stephens from Hush Dance will start groups at the beginning of Term 3. We are also continuing with Matua Brent’s ukulele groups. We are looking forward to all groups working hard and performing at the annual Cultural Festival to be held towards the end of Term 3.
