Loud Shirt Day

This Friday 21st September is the Finale of Deaf Awareness Week.

Money raised goes to The Hearing House Foundation working with deaf children and their families.

Our school is registered and will run the following activities on Loud Shirt Day:

Lunchtime Disco 12:45 – 1:00 $1.

Flashing light rings (if they arrive in time!) $1.

Face paint and nail polish to be done class by class in the morning $1.

Parade (on court if fine otherwise in the hall) just before lunch (11.45am) with prizes for most colourful

Room 12 Trip to Kawakawa

On Wednesday, 26th September, Room 12 will be travelling to Kawakawa for a day trip with Matua Jim to follow up on their current study on the history of Kawakawa.  They will be leaving from school at 9:15am and returning by 2:30pm.

 

Hockey trip to Whangarei

Yesterday our Saturday Division 2 hockey team participated in a fun day hockey tournament at Kensington Stadium in Whangarei. The children involved had a wonderful time.  Although this was a “fun day” our children played well winning every game and behaving extremely well, we are very proud. We would like to thank Mrs Stillwell and Miss Manukau for their help.

 

22nd September Hockey Prize Giving

A reminder to all our hockey players and whanau that this Saturday, 22nd September, will be our end of year prize giving.  This will be held in the Lindvart Park pavilion starting at 9am.  We are asking all parents to please bring along a plate, and for as many people to attend as possible.

 

Rhythm ‘n GrooveOn the 24th September our Hip Hop group and a group of children from Aniwaniwa will be going to Kawakawa to compete in the annual Rhythm and Groove competition.

 

Trans Tasman Principals' Conference

This week Whaea Chicky will be attending the Trans Tasman Principals' conference being held in Melbourne. She will return this Saturday 22nd September. During her absence whanau are welcome to contact Mr Graeme Shaw our Deputy Principal.

 

Pirate PartyThe last two of weeks of Term Room 1 has being learning about Pirates.  To finish our Unit off we will be having a Dress Up Pirate Party on Wednesday the 26th September.  A note will come home with room 1 children letting parents know what is involved.

 

Drop, Cover, Hold

A National Earthquake Drill will be held on the 26th September at 9.26am. Students will be at school at this time.  Please take the time to read the leaflet that came home last week.

 

Hospice Volunteers Needed

Hospice Mid-Northland is a free Service which offers help to patients and their family/whānau with a life limiting illness.  Our goal is to help people make the most of their lives, to live every moment in whatever way is important to them.  Please contact Carol Price at Hospice Mid-Northland – Ph 09 407799 for more information.

 

Kaikohe Rugby Club Fun Day

On the 22nd Sept 2012, Kaikohe Rugby is hosting two Northland age group rugby games against North Harbour and Auckland.  Kick off is at 10am at the Kaikohe Central grounds with " Thomas the Tank Engine" rides for kids, food stalls and more.

 

Garden Club Seeds

Are available for purchase again, order forms are available at the school office.

 

Free Meningococcal C Vaccination

The Meningococcal C vaccine is still available FREE through most GPs in Northland for all children and youth aged 12 months up to under 20 years, who did not receive it in the emergency programme in 2011.

 

“Kick It” holiday programme
