Welcome

A special welcome to our new tamariki and their whanau: Deisharn Wallace and Karismia Andrews-Davies.

 

Meet our newest and very own Mystic!Sky City Mystic ‘Elsa Brown’ will be at the Kaikohe East School Hall at 10:00am on Friday 8 May to meet our netballers, and netballers from other schools. The programme will include games and prizes designed to entertain all.

This is an opportunity to hear from an elite athlete about how YOU can pursue YOUR netball dreams.

 

Sports Fees

All fees for children wishing to participate in sport outside of school will be paid for by the school. This will include Hockey, Netball, Touch and Rugby fees.

Labels for Uniforms

Robert Halliday, one of our parents, will embroider your child’s name below “Kaikohe East School” on their school shirt or jacket for $5 (up to 10 letters). Write the name on a piece of paper, pin it on the shirt and bring the shirt to the office.

 

Teacher Aide Course

On Thursday 8 May Jenny Tebbut from “Raising Achievement” is leading a course for Teacher Aides from schools in the area here at Kaikohe East School. They will cover topics such as Understanding and meeting the needs of those with learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, those on the autistic spectrum, ADHD and children with auditory and visual processing disorders.

 

Dogsmart RoadshowAll classes except rooms 1, 3 and 7 (the very young children) are going to the Dogsmart Roadshow at the Memorial Hall at 1:30-2:30pm on Monday 11 May

The aim of the programme is to provide school children with the safety skills and knowledge to keep themselves safe around dogs, now and in the future. The programme, offered free of charge, has been especially designed for Year 1 to Year 5 students.

NetballWell done to our netballers who started the season with a rally last Saturday. Thanks to our coaches and supporters on the day!

All players need to meet their coaches (Junior team Coach – Whaea Arlene Manukau and Senior Team Coach – Mrs Anne Stillwel), and Manager Moehau Romana) by 8.15am each Saturday.

Games will be played until about 9.50am.

The children will be given uniforms when they get to netball and these must be returned to the coach at the end of JMB. Please make sure your child takes water and wears appropriate footwear to play in.

 

Dental Clinic

The Dental Clinic number is 0 9 4011534.

Use your toothbrush twice a day. Clean your teeth with toothpaste and when finished spit don't rinse.

 

Hockey

Well done to our Hockey teams that played on Saturday!

Thanks also to our coaches and supporters.

A reminder that Hockey practice is at Lindvart Park at 3:30-4:30pm every Monday and at lunchtime at school on Wednesdays and Fridays.

This Saturday Kaikohe East 2-Year 3 -4 Team needs to be at the turf by 1030. Games start at 11:00am

Coaches: Rehutai Manukau and Lisa Tuwhangai

Kaikohe East 1 - Year 5-6 Team needs to be at turf by 11:30am. Games start at 12pm.

Coaches: Claire Edmonds and Christine Witehira.

Concerns or Complaints

Whanau are reminded that if you have a concern of complaint it is not ok to come into the school and speak directly to other children.

If you have concerns or complaints that you wish to discuss, contact the office and make an appointment to meet the principal or see your child’s teacher in the first instance.

If you consider that your concerns are not being addressed, a complaint should be made, in writing, to the chairperson of the board of trustees:

Kaikohe East PlaygroupThe playgroup is now open for any 4 year old tamariki who are not currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Centre or programme.

The Playgroup is being run by two amazing young mothers – Emily Rogers who has a degree in Early Childhood and Mikaela Beazley Tango who has been instrumental in the success of the playgroup in the main street.

If you have any queries at all don’t hesitate to come and see Emily or Mikaela or ring the school.
