Term 2 Junior Trip

Unfortunately due to the expense and other problems the trip to Auckland for all Junior classes has been cancelled but teachers are looking at other opportunities for their classes.

Term 2 TopicTeachers have discussed a broad topic for Term 2 called Planet Earth and Beyond.  The topic is a broad Science topic that classes will base some of their term 2 work around.

Part of this topic work will involve all classes finding out more about Matariki with a possible whole school Matariki celebration later in the term.

Zero Waste

Sue Woods from the Zero Waste programme is currently visiting all classes to raise awareness of issues faced around waste management and making changes to daily practices. This will involve looking at lunchboxes and ways to reduce packaging.

Speech Competition

Every year we have two representatives attend the local Primary Schools Rotary Speech Competition. Prior to this we hold a school-wide speech competition whereby all children in each class write a speech, learn it, say it and finalists are selected to participate in our School Competition.  Our tentative School Competition has been planned for Thursday 12th June.

More details later.
