Welcome

This week we welcome Justyce Tupe to our school.

Cross Country

Last week our representatives competed at Ohaeawai Primary School.

Kenneth Marupo, Tiakina Tito-Brown, Devontei Yukich, Ngawairere Rakete, Ben Harding, Wiruru Leef, Puhi Witehira, David Harding (5th), Henry Pomana, Jamaya Stewart (3rd), Journey Kukutai, Quintin Tarawa (5th), Te Aria Witehira (2nd), Dutchess Broomfield, Lizzy Whiu, Renata Eruera, Chezane Stevens, Shane Kauwhata, Naia Broomfield and Exodus Edmonds.The following students all gained placings in the top 20:

Celebration Day / Hangi

Our school will be having a Celebration day this Friday 7th September, “Kaikohe East’s Got Talent”, starting at 10am. A copy of the programme for the day is attached to today’s newsletter.

Hangi orders can be made at the school office and are selling out fast, $8 each. We need helpers from 9am tomorrow to prepare hangi packs, we also need helpers on Friday from 11am to wrap cooked hangi. Please see Kohi at the Office if you can help or just turn up!

 

We also require clean newspaper, hangi wood and plastic bags, if you can help with any of these please let Kohi at the office know.

Caught Being Good Father’s Day Award

Hone Bixley was our winner for helping out whenever without being asked. He was awarded the book "Press Pass" Donated from the Duffy Books in Homes.

Hockey

This Saturday, 8th September, is the final day of hockey for our Senior team only.  Please be at Lindvart pavilion by 9:30am to get dressed and warm up.  And a reminder to both teams Hockey Prize-giving is on the 22nd September up in the Lindvart Park Pavilion.

Kenny Mokaraka is a StarCongratulations to Kenny from Room 12 for being selected to play bowls in the Under 18 New Zealand and the Under 18 Auckland team. We look forward to keeping in touch with Kenny’s progress and development.

Trans Tasman Principal’s Conference

On Saturday 15th September Whaea Chicky will be attending the Trans Tasman Principal’s conference being held in Melbourne. She will return on Saturday 22nd September. During her absence whanau are welcome to contact Mr Graeme Shaw our Deputy Principal.

Loud Shirt Day

Be a star on Loud Shirt Day!  Friday September 21st, and help deaf children learn to listen and talk like their hearing friends.  Loud Shirt Day is the annual appeal of The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Paediatric Programme. Our school will be organising activities on this day, more details later.

Drop, Cover, Hold

A National Earthquake Drill will be held on the 26th September at 9.26am. Students will be at school at this time.  Please take the time to read the leaflet that came home last week.

WE Connect

A reminder that this class operates every Tuesday for this term and at the beginning of Term 4 the class will be almost full time at the Top Energy building behind Video Ezy. Every Friday children from the class will return to our school from 11am. Could any children involved who have not yet returned their signed contract please do so urgently.
