Welcome

This week we would like to welcome the following children their whanau to our school: Jayden Cassidy, Jonnie Young, Alexia Wharerau and Jules Mullin.

Whanau Hui

Teachers are writing mid-term reports now.  There will be an opportunity for whanau to come in and meet with teachers on Tuesday 27th June to discuss their child’s progress and report. School will close at 1pm on this day however buses will run as normal.  Bus children and any other children with no alternative supervision at home will stay and be supervised at school until 3pm on this day.  A letter was sent home last week asking whanau to select a time to come in and to let us know what is happening on this day for your child at 1pm.  There are spare forms available at the school office.

Matariki Celebration

On Friday 23rd June all classes will be involved in a Matariki Celebration.  Each Syndicate will have planned activities that the children will rotate around classes completing different activities.  A group of children will be preparing a small hangi for every child in the school with Miss Mason in Room 12 and a small group of children will be helping put the hangi down with Matua JT, the hangi will be ready at 1pm.  We are also combining “Wig Day” with this and asking for children to bring a gold coin donation to school on this day, they will get a hangi and all coins collected will be given to the Child Cancer fundraising group.

Five Year Olds

We have had lots of new 5 year olds starting school recently and are starting to think about starting up a new class that will begin soon.  Whaea Barbara who has lots of experience teaching at this level will move from Room 4 to teach this new class.  Therefore it is likely that a new teacher will begin in Room 4.  More details later.

Term 3-4 – looking ahead

Whaea Angela will continue teaching in Room 8 until the end of the year, Miss Snow will return to school next year.

There will be a new class for brand new 5 year olds open in Term 3.

Whaea Barbara will teach in this class.

A newly appointed teacher will teach in Room 4.
