New Enrolments

Welcome to our new tamariki and their whānau.

New Junior Class for Term 3

We have selected a few children we think would be best suited to be in this class however if whānau wish to request their child be in this class please get in touch with us.

In addition to this the children who are currently in Room 7 will be moving into either Room 8,9 or 10. All whānau of children moving will be contacted by teachers. The new classes will start in the last week of term.

Matariki Celebrations

Room 15, Room 7 and Room 9 are planning to have an overnight stay at school on Wednesday 26th June. Please be sure to complete the pānui that went home last week and return it to school as soon as possible.

Matariki Exhibition

We would like to invite all Whānau to a school wide exhibition of art work in the last week of term. The display will be in the hall to be viewed and enjoyed on Whānau Hui afternoon, Monday 1st of July.

Hockey

We have hockey again this Saturday. Please be at the turf at the below times for your child’s team with a mouthguard and appropriate footwear.

Netball

This week all players need to meet their coach at Lindvart Park by 8.30am, be sure to wear sensible shoes, bring a jacket, bag and a water bottle. Teams will play unless there is a weather warning in place.

Kids Can Fun Walk/Run

Kaikohe East School Year 6 tamariki have been invited to Kaikohe Intermediate school on the 21st of June to participate in a fun run or walk to help fundraise for Kids Can who kindly supply our school with kai and footwear for our tamariki. 

Your child will be provided with a sausage sizzle and ice block to go towards the event on the day.

Rotary Speech Competition

Tonight we have two students participating in the annual Rotary Speech Competition at the Kaikohe RSA 6.45pm. We wish both Portia Dalton and Juztice Kopa all the best, we are very proud of you!

Whānau Hui Day School closing Early

On Monday 1st July school will be closing at 12.30pm. Teachers will be available from then onwards to meet with whānau to discuss their child/children’s progress and achievement so far this term. Your child has brought home the initial appointment booking form, thanks to those who have been returned.

Confirmed appointment times will go home next week.

Junior Trip

The Junior Syndicate - Ngā Kākano, 3,4,5,6 are currently in the process of planning a day trip to Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World in Auckland in week 9 of this term, June the 27th. Please make sure to return these slips to their classroom teacher. If you have any questions or require another permission slip, please contact the school office and we will let your child’s teacher know.

Transition Days

Our Year 6 will visit Kaikohe Intermediate School is planned for Term 3 on Wednesday 21st August. Children will be expected to wear their uniform on this day and will be travelling by bus leaving at about 9am and returning at 12.30pm.

Term 3 – Dance with Hush

We are planning for two dance groups to work with BoDeene Stephens from Hush Dance Studio at the beginning of Term 3. We are looking forward to the two groups working hard and performing at the annual Cultural Festival to be held towards the end of Term 3 at the Memorial Hall.

Bus Bay Reminder

Whānau are reminded that stopping in the bus bay is not permitted. Bus drivers get annoyed when pulling in and cars are parked in our bus bay.

Cars should not use the bus bay at all from 8.15-9.15am and 2.30-3.30pm

Huihuinga Term 3

Schools (including Kaikohe East) will be closing at 12pm for a Te Arahura Huihuinga to be held on 16 August - Week 4 Term 3 (back up date 23 August - Week 5).

At this hui we will share our collective schools new achievement challenges and our direction going forward.
