Welcome

Welcome teacher trainee Roimata Kingi to Room 17 until the end of the week. Roimata will then return later in the year to Room 17.

School Closed for April Holidays

A reminder to whānau that school will close on Friday 13th April for the April School Holidays. Term 2 will start on Monday 30th April.

Whānau Survey 2018

Staff will be discussing during the holidays responses from Whānau and will be sharing our “now what, so what” ideas.

Book Character Parade

We are planning a school book character parade on the first week back in Term 2. Children can use their holiday time to think about, prepare, collect, make their book character costume however teachers will in the first week be sure to help all children prepare for this event.

Please mark your calendar “Book Character Parade” for Friday 4th May.

Breakfast Club

A HUGE thank you to our dedicated Breakfast Club volunteers, Ani Milner and Lois Maunsell for another great term filling our tamariki's pukus with tasty kai each morning. We really appreciate your time and commitment to our kura. Reminder to all whānau that all children are welcome to have breakfast in our school hall from 8am - 8.45 every morning. We have baked beans, weetbix, fruit, milk, yoghurt and toast so come on in!

Education Review Office Visit

We look forward to the Education Review Office visiting our school after the Queen’s Birthday weekend. A team of 2 or 3 reviewers will be welcomed to our school on Tuesday 5th June and are likely to be in our school for the week. The reviewers will be in classrooms, talking with children, staff and whānau, looking at children’s work, teachers planning, school policy and programmes. We are looking forward to sharing what we do with the reviewers.

Hockey

All children who showed interest in playing Saturday morning hockey this year, will come home with a registration form today. Please complete the form and return to the school office by the end of the week.

The hockey season starts Saturday 5th May with an opening tournament.

Our coaches this year are: Whaea Kohi, Whaea Michelle, Whaea Waiora and Whaea Claire.

Netball Letter

Children wanting to play netball for the school on Saturday’s at Lindvart Park will be bringing home a letter today with some details. Any queries please come and see Whaea Tyme in Room 9 or Matua James. JMB Netball will begin on 5th May.

Holiday Programmes

Te Hau Ora o Ngāpuhi are running a holiday programme for 11-17 year olds, these school holiday’s.

Transition Days for Year 6

Two transition days for the year 6 tamariki have been planned for Tuesday 12th June and Wednesday 5th September. In Term 4 whānau will be contacted to start the enrolment process

Bus Bay

All whānau are reminded that the bus bay must be kept clear at ALL times from 2.45pm until 3.45pm please. Do not use this as a stop or pick up place for children.

School Finishing Early

On Friday May 11th our school will be closing at 12pm to allow all staff to attend planned professional development at Northland College. All school buses will run early from 12pm on this day. Alternatively let your teacher know now what will happen to your child/children on this day and give them your best contact phone number for the day. We will send an additional notice home soon to ensure all whānau know this is happening and we know what is happening to your child/children on this day.

Cleaning Contract Tender

The Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that our new cleaning contractors are James Pehi-Neho, Crystal Harris, Anne, Erana and Marsha Broomfield. Our new team started mahi on Monday 9th April.

Weetbix TryathlonCongratulations to our “super duper” Weetbix Tryathletes who did us proud on Sunday in Waitangi. A special mention to our fantastic staff who were instrumental in ensuring this event was a success. To the staff and whānau that came to support our tamariki on the day, thank you all. Here are a few pics from the day.


League on Wednesdays

We are looking for whānau who are interested in coaching/looking after a Year 2-3, Year 4-5 or Year 5-6 league team next term.

The initial tournament starts Wednesday May 9th

and runs every Wednesday from 3.30-5pm for 8 weeks. Training can be run at school by staff but we need help on Wednesday afternoons please.

Let us know at the office or see Whaea Kelli or Whaea Lydia if you are interested.

We will have limited team entries if we don’t have good support.
