Planning and Preparation for 2020

Teachers are currently starting to organise for 2020.  If whānau have any ideas about new ideas, resources or comments about 2020 please come and see your child’s class teacher or send an email to admin@kaikeast.school.nz with your ideas and contact number in case further details are needed. Please put in the subject line of your email 2020 Ideas and Organisation.

We have no confirmed date for the photo order arrivals, we let keep you updated as we receive details.

Tūmanako and Room 9 to Waitangi

As a part of the Raranga Matihiko programme, Tūmanako and Room 9 tamariki will be visiting the digital classroom at the Treaty Grounds in Waitangi soon.  Tūmanako will go on Tuesday 29th October and Room 9 on Monday 4th November. More information will be sent home with those students involved. 

Halloween Competition

This week teachers have been shared a Halloween Competition created by Haze Kopa and whānau.  All entries must be back at school by Wednesday 30th October.

Rangimārie and Manawanui Trip

Rangimārie and Manawanui are visiting the Northland Firehouse Museum and Rural Fire Station on the 31st October. We will be walking there and back.

Cross Country

Our School Cross Country was held today, while it was a little showery for our 5 and 6 year olds it cleared up ok for the other age groups.  Thanks to the whānau that came along to support.

Thanks also to Whaea Lydia, Poutama boys and other staff and students for their support.  We will include a report of placings in next week’s newsletter.

Touch What a fantastic turn out for the Rally last week. Thanks so much to all of those who came to support our kura. We have had so much interest we have had to create 3 new teams! On a Thursday we ask that the tamariki who are not going home before their game, stay at school with Whaea Lydia and the coaches to ensure everyone walks together safely over to Lindvart Park at 3.30.  We meet in the hall after school.

The team names and coaches are as follows. When we have got complete confirmation from the coaches, we will be able to confirm when training will commence for each team.

Swimming

We are hoping to have the pool ready for swimming after Labour Weekend.  

Hāngi fundraiser – tickets on sale now!

To assist with our Basketball representatives and our increased numbers of Term 4 sports team we

have a hāngi on Friday 22nd November.  Hāngi are now on sale for $10 each and will as usual include: 3 meats, pumpkin, kūmara, cabbage, potato and stuffing.  

If any whānau have dry wood or clean newspaper they could donate for the hāngi we would be very grateful.

Whānau are also welcome to come and help prepare/pack on Thursday 21st November in the school hall from about 10am.

End of Year Report

We will have an end of year report for all children who have been at school for longer than 6 weeks ready to send home later this term.  The report format is simplified and will show whānau what Reading/Writing/Maths curriculum level your child is working at and will include a general comment about other areas of the curriculum.

Kaikohe East School Board of Trustees

The Kaikohe East School Board will meet at the school at 11:30am on Tuesday 29 October.

Term 4 Class Letters

 Coming home today with all children are a copy of their Term 4 class letter which will include some key information for whānau.

Northland Basketball Trials

Trials for the 2020 season will be held for u11’s through to u17’s both boys and girls,

WHERE: ASB STADIUM - Kensington, whangarei

WHEN: Saturday 9th November 2019.

Registrations will be taken on the day.  There is a $10.00 registration/trial fee payable at the venue.  We ask that all players ONLY turn up at their respective time slots:

Under 17’s 9 - 11am

Under 15’s 11.30am – 1.30pm

Under 13’s and Under 11’s 2 – 4pm

4.00pm - Turf 2: Kaikohe East ( Monique Turei) Tball vs Raiders

T Ball

All games are played on the Kaikohe Hockey turf at Lindvart Park. Players please meet your coaches at 3.30pm
