We welcome this term Whaea Liz Atkinson who is teaching in Room 4 and Whaea Huia who is teaching in Room 16 while Matua Jim is away on sick leave.

We welcome to our Support staff Team: Whaea Moka who is working in Room 2, Whaea Linda who is working with a new child in Room 1, Whaea April who is working mainly in Room 2 and welcome back to Whaea Dione who is working in Room 14.

Children in the Staff Carpark

All children have been reminded that they are not to walk through the carpark.  If they are going to Room 10 they are to enter the school at Mangakahia Road pedestrian crossing gate or at the gate by the bus bay.  To get to Room 10 children have been told to use the gate by Room 12 and then by the lemon tree.  Whanau are reminded that if you are dropping children off to do so in the morning by the bus bay not the staff car park please.

Sore Throats - antibiotics

This week we were reminded by our Hauora Kaikohe Kaimahi that it is ok for a child who has been put on antibiotics for Strep Throat to attend school while on antibiotics.

A reminder also that our Nurses are at school to swab sore throats every Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 11.30am.  Feel free to ring us to add your child to the list for checking on any day.

Whanau Hui/Survey Responses

Follow this link to a summary of all the Whanau hui responses.  Thanks to everyone that contributed, you will see by reading the school responses that we have already actioned some of the ideas put forward.  If any whanau have any other ideas or suggestions please just let us know, you do not have to wait for a survey.

From the School Council

At our meeting last term the school councillors looked at providing a cheaper jacket option following responses from Whanau.  They looked at many options, we washed and dried samples and have decided to go with what we think is the best option.

These hoodies will be available soon. They are $30 each and will come in a variety of sizes.  The manufacturers have said that they do not recommend them being dried in a dryer.

Collaborating with Northland College

Yesterday 6 Senior Hospitality students from Northland College joined Room 17 to create a High Tea party in Room 12. They worked together making different dishes which included produce from our garden. They were fantastic role models and had amazing skills in the kitchen. Everyone had a great day and especially enjoyed the delicious kai at the end. We look forward to cooking with them in their kitchen later on in the term.

(COL – Kahui Ako)

Whaea Chicky and the three Across School Teachers completed visits this week to all the schools within our Kahui ako.  We now have the Early Childhood Centres to visit next and are looking forward to those visits.

So far we have been really impressed by many of the positive things happening in all our schools and we are looking forward to sharing these ideas with all schools.

Next week we are visiting two Communities of Learning in Auckland.
