Welcome

A very special welcome to the following students and their whānau to our school this week: Harmony and Tamati Hohepa and Maxx Woods-Morunga.

 

School Uniform Giveaway

Recently we were luck y enough to receive some black casual pants from Kids Can so we have decided to throw a pair of these in for Whanau who have already purchased a school uniform top or who purchase a top/s in Term 3.  All children who have not received their free pair of pants will be given them to bring home today.

Pant stocks are limited so be in quick, buy a school top for $35 and receive a pair of black pants free!!

 

Whole School Karakia

All classes will be starting their day with morning karakia in the hall when the first bell goes at 8.55am.  If children arrive late, we are asking them to wait on the seat outside the office.

 

School Cross CountryOur School Cross Country is tomorrow (Thursday 21 August)!  Morning tea will run from 10-10.30am.  All children will meet on the field in their age groups ready to start the first race, 5yr olds, at 10.40am. 

Please ensure children bring appropriate gear and please come along and support our tamariki.

 

Whānau Hui

All teachers will be available to meet with Whānau to discuss their child/children’s progress to date from 3pm on Thursday 18th September.

At 2.10pm in the school hall there will be performances by our groups representing us at the Cultural Festival, come along and listen to our talented performers then meet with your child’s teacher.  Teachers will be available to meet with whānau from 3-5.30pm on this day. If you require a specific time please contact your child’s teacher otherwise come along and see them when they are free.

 

School Photos

Our school photo day is scheduled for the 3rd September 2014.  All orders and money must be returned to the school office by the 1st September, there are extra order forms available at the school office.

 

Kids CanWe have a Kids Can dress up day on Friday the 29th August.  We are asking children to dress up, e.g. as a book character, movie star, cowboy, farmer, pig hunter, princess etc, and bring $2 which will go to Kids Can and each child will receive a sausage sizzle.

 

NZ General Election

Children will be bringing home an Election Pamphlet.  This year the Election will be on the 20th September and Kaikohe East School is a polling booth!  Please enrol to vote!  Enrolling to vote is EASY!

 

Thank You Kaikohe New WorldThanks to Kaikohe New World for giving us eggs each week for our Breakfast Club.  Each Friday we will use the eggs for a hot cooked breakfast.

 

Cultural Festival

This year we are pleased to have at least three groups representing our school at the Cultural Festival which will be held at Northland College. All performers will attend the dress rehearsal on Monday 22nd September and the performance for all whānau to attend will be on Wednesday 24th September, start time 11am. Entry by koha! Nau mai haere mai!

 

Saturday Hockey

This is our last round of Saturday hockey before the Closing Day Tournament on Saturday 30th August and the Hockey Prize Giving is set for Saturday the 6th September.   Can Mrs Woodman’s team please be at the turf by 9.30am and Whaea Claire’s team to meet at the turf at 10.30am.

 

Incredible Years Parenting Programme

Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services Parenting Programme will start on Thursday 28th August at the Kaikohe Baptist Church from 10am-12pm.  Contact Korey Atama on 4015530 or 0276675861.

 

Tū Rangatira Northland College

For all Ex-Northland College students.

A day for Year 9 and 10 Northland College students has been organised for the 19th September2014.  All ex-students have been asked to attend at some point during the day.  For more info contact Johnny Waititi at Northland College 4013200.

 

Pioneer Village Trip

Rooms 14 and 4 will be going to visit The Pioneer Village on Monday 25th August as part of our “Change” inquiry, further information will come home closer to the date.
