Welcome

A special welcome to our new tamariki and their whanau: Aaron Whiu, and Manea Slade.

 

School Speeches

Currently all classes are working on writing and learning a speech. We have our school speech competition planned for the 9th of June, start time 10am in the hall. We have two categories – non – competitive for all class levels and competitive for all Year 5 and 6 classes.  The two finalists from the competitive section will go on to represent our school at the Kaikohe Rotary Speech competition held at the RSA on Wednesday 24 June. More details about both events later.

Mid-Year Reports

All children who have been enrolled at school for 6 weeks or more will be bringing home a report from their class teacher to show what they know, their next learning steps and general information about them. Reports are scheduled to come home with the school newsletter on Wednesday June 24th.

 

Free Doctors for children under 13

Just another reminder to whanau that it is free for all children under the age of 13 to go to the Doctors. If your child is feeling unwell please take advantage of this awesome free service.

Term 3 Clubs

A reminder that in Term 3 we run a clubs afternoon programme whereby we ask whanau to come and support us by teaching a game, a skill or run an activity with a group of tamariki.  This might be something like: teaching the ukulele, teaching weaving, playing and teaching chess or checkers or any other appropriate game. If you think you can help out please come and see your child’s teacher or contact us at school.

Teams to be at Lindvart Park on Saturdays at 10:30am (Y3-4 Team) and 11:30am (Y5-6 Team).

Practices at 4:00pm at Lindvart Park on Mondays and at school at lunchtime on Wednesdays and Fridays.

ZERO WasteThis week the Zero Waste facilitator has visited all classes to talk about reducing waste, recycling, and composting.

 

Lost Property

Parents are welcome to ask at the office if they wish to look through the collection of un-named lost property. From time to time this is disposed of to a charity.

 

Playground markings

This week we have had our playground markings repainted and upgraded. It looks great.

 

Rugby LeaguePlayer of the day last Wednesday:

The team needs to meet coach Ken Moka at Lindvart Park straight after school on Wednesdays. Games start at 4:00pm and 4:45pm. Practices are Tuesday and Fridays at school at lunchtime.

 

Rippa Rugby

Our two Rippa Rugby teams had an awesome day in Kerikeri on Monday. We have certainly got some talented players amongst us.

 

Kaikohe East School Board

The Kaikohe East School Board is meeting at the school at 1:30pm on Wednesday 27 May.

 

Fire Brigade Sports

It’s that time again. Fire Brigade Sports Day is on Monday 29 June (postponed to Tuesday 30 June if too wet). This is for year 5-6 children. Not all will play.

Codes and venues are:

Soccer - Northland College

Netball - Lindvart Park

 

Thank you RotaryKaikohe Rotary President Liz Henley visited our assembly last week to present Rotary Dictionaries to our Year 4 students. Thank you Kaikohe Rotary.

Thank you LionsWhaea Lydia congratulated Ani Nepia Hill and Stephen Harris at assembly for winning prestigious Lions Awards recently. Ani won the Sibling Award for looking after her sister Inakoi in class and in the playground. Stephen won the Amazing Bravery Award for the way he challenges himself. Thank you Kaikohe Lions.

 

Thank you supporters!A big thank you to Manawanui and all those who supported the Sausage Sizzle last Friday. We raised $405 sponsorship for Matua Aaron’s Fire Brigade Challenge. Aaron is in the Kaikohe team climbing the Sky Tower. All funds go to the Leukaemia and Blood Cancer Foundation. The lucky hamper draw for all who bought sausages was won by Fairlane Ashby-Wright.
