Kia ora koutou, welcome back to another exciting year. A special welcome to new support team member, Whaea Michelle Tit0-Brown and welcome back Whaea Michelle Hudson who will both be working mainly in Te Korowai o te Aroha.

Welcome to the following new children: Jayden Tango, Elizabeth Howard, Lyrickai Te Tai, Tiara Wharerau, Owen Cherrington, Argosy Savage, Nazareth Savage, Maddison and Tommy Harris-Stowers.

 

Term Dates for 2014

Term 1 – Wednesday 29th January to Thursday 17th April

Term Break – Friday 7th February for Kaikohe East School and Kaikohe Intermediate only

Term 2 – Monday 5th May to Friday 4th July

Term 3 – Monday 21st July to Friday 26th September

Term 4 – Monday 13th October to Friday 12th December

 

Free Stationery

A reminder if your child attends for the first ten days of school with no absences he/she will receive their stationary free. This will apply to all enrolments in Term 1.

 

Term Break 7th February

All Whanau are advised that there will be no school for Kaikohe East children on Thursday 6th February because it is Waitangi Day and no school on Friday 7th February. This day has been scheduled a term break so that we finish at the end of the year on a Friday and finish the year with the correct number of days at school.

 

School Parent Pamphlet

Included with this newsletter is our school parent pamphlet which includes a lot of information that we hope Whanau find helpful.

 

Subway lunches only

As from today for Term 1 only at this stage we will only be offering subway lunches due to Trumps Café closing down.

Kaikohe East School BOT

Casual Vacancy for an Elected Trustee

A casual vacancy has occurred on the board of trustees for an elected parent representative.

The board has resolved under section 105 of the Education Act 1989 to fill the vacancy by selection.  If ten percent or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.  Any eligible voter who wishes to ask the board to hold a by-election should write to:

Kaikohe Swimming Club

Learn to Swim registrations at the Kaikohe East School pool next week Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of February from 4pm onwards. Contact Beeby or Anne at Kaikohe East School for further information.

 

School Uniform

We have School uniform top size samples available for children to try on.  Please come into the school office to try them on and make an order for 2014.  All tops are $35 each and should be delivered to us by the end of January. Any black bottom can be worn with the school top.  Uniforms are not compulsory this year but will be by next year.

 

2013 Celebration Day

A big thank you to all the Whanau who were able to come along and watch our class circus performances on the last week of Term 4.  Your support and attendance was very much appreciated.

 

Mainfreight Award

A big congratulations to our two Year 6 Mainfreight Award winners for 2013 Christina Nieper and Quintin Tarawa who were announced at our End of Year Circus Celebration Day.
