Welcome Back

This term we welcome back from maternity leave Whaea Arlene, this term Whaea Arlene will be working mainly in Room 17.

 

Our Condolences

To the whanau who lost loved ones during the holiday period our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you all.

 

The TPU (Teen Parent Unit)

During the school holidays work began on the new Teen Parent Unit which will be situated on our Ministry of Education property behind the caretakers shed. The buildings are being made in Whangarei and are due to be moved to the site in December / January with a view to the TPU being opened late January 2017.

The TPU will be governed by the Northland College Board of Trustees and their Manager is Whaea Kim Peita.

 

School Property Projects

During the school holidays we have had the full repaint of the school commence, this is due to be finished early November.  We also have had approval for the pool to be upgraded with a view to opening it after Labour Weekend. Roof replacement and guttering repairs will occur over the Christmas holiday period along with an upgrade of Rooms 3 and 4.

 

Labour Day Holiday

Please be aware that school will be closed on Monday 24th October as this is the Labour Day holiday. School will resume on Tuesday 25th October.

 

Kaikohe East School Board

The Kaikohe East School Board meets at the school at 1.30pm on Wednesday 26th October.

Special Term 4 Dates

Here is a list of special events we know of now that are occurring in Term 4:School Council meeting with Whaea Chicky – Friday 14th October

School pool opens – Tuesday 25th October for class lessons

Twilight Hockey begins – Tuesdays 25th October finishes 29 November

Softball and T Ball begins – Wednesdays – 19th October, finishes 7th December

Touch begins – will be on Thursdays 

Waimate North Show – 12 November

Kaikohe Christmas Parade – 26 November

Transition at Kaikohe Intermediate – 10th November

Teachers Day – school closing at 12.30pm on 9th December

 

School Uniforms – compulsory

Our School Uniform order has arrived! Please come in to the school office if you wish to purchase some.

Next year we are making the wearing of school uniforms compulsory for all children.

School photos ordered last term have arrived and are at the school office for collecting by whanau.  They will not be sent home with children unless whanau contact us please. Class photos will be available for re-ordering at a later date or online at www.lizdaviesphotography.co.nz

who have been elected by classmates will meet with Whaea Chicky to discuss the following agenda items: 

·      Compulsory school uniform in 2017

·      Trialling new lunch eating idea – play first, eat lunch last?

·      Rubbish around the school

·      Keeping gates closed

·      Swimming in Term 4

Any items that the children bring from their classes will also be discussed.

 

Breakfast Club

We are looking for Breakfast Club volunteers for Monday and Wednesday’s from 8am – 8.45am, if you are available please contact the school office 4011534 or come in and see us.

 

Transition Day 

All Year 6 children will be attending the last planned Transition Day at Kaikohe Intermediate School on Thursday 10th November from approximately 9-2.30pm.  Whanau are welcome to attend with their tamariki to see what the school has to offer for next year.  The children will be involved in various classroom activities on this day that will give them some idea of what Year 7 will be like for them at Kaikohe Intermediate.  The Principal Freda Mokaraka will also be available to speak with whanau should you wish to.

 

Term 4 Focus

This term our school wide focus is 

Community oriented so could include a wide range of ideas and programmes such as supporting local community events, taking care of things in our community, being community orientated and what that involves etc etc

Due to the Kaikohe Show being out of school time we will now be contributing to and getting involved with the Waimate North Show due to happen on Saturday 12 November.
