Lockdown – STAY HOME
I hope all whānau are happy, safe and got everything they need during this lockdown period.
It’s important that we all follow the lockdown process to ensure that we are all protected from this terrible virus.
The most important message is to STAY HOME and not allow visitors to your house or go visiting yourselves.
If you require further information about the Corona Virus or have any questions please use the Freephone helpline 0800 358 5453 or visit the website www.healthy.org.nz
A reminder to focus on prevention - the best preventative steps for any communicable disease include...
wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and dry thoroughly
avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
avoid sharing anything that has come in contact with saliva, whether in your living or social environments
stay home when you are sick and seek medical attention
cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the rubbish
get adequate sleep and eat well-balanced meals to ensure a healthy immune system.
Ministry of Education Wants Details
Yesterday Chicky was contacted by the Manager of the Ministry of Education asking that we collate some data from whānau around internet access and devices available at home for our tamariki.
Over the next few days we hope that teachers are able to get this information from whānau. It is important that the details sent to the Ministry of Education are as accurate as possible.
Teachers will want to know
the number of children in your whare who may need a device to access online learning at home
the number of children in your whare who have a device but have poor connectivity at home
the number of children who need practical education packs delivered
The Ministry of Education is considering how they might be able to support whānau. This information will give them an idea of the size of the problem.

Learning at Home
It was a very busy couple of days for us at school preparing for lockdown. Our focus was contacting whānau and being sure that we had mahi prepared for every child. By the end of yesterday most teachers had contacted most whānau and either shared learning at home for them by hard copy or made sure they knew how to access learning online from our school facebook page. Here are a few pictures that teachers have sent me today after two days of learning at home. Well done to whānau who are keeping routines going at home. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou!
