Mid Year Reports

All children who have been at school for at least 6 weeks will be bringing home a mid year report indicating where they are placed in terms of the National Standards in Writing, Reading and Math. If any Whanau have any queries re this mid year report please feel free to make a time to come and see the appropriate teacher/s. All reports will come home today in sealed addressed envelopes.  Please be mindful that these are mid year reports so for most children they still have about 5-6 months to work hard to achieve a standard if they haven’t already.  As always we apologise in advance, if you find any errors in any report we will alter it and reprint, we try hard to proof read but sometimes get it wrong.

Year 5/6 Fundraising

We have 100 $2 Disco tickets for sale. Please bring your money in to school and collect a ticket. Drawn at School Assembly on Friday 28th June, provided most tickets have been sold.

Term 3 Clubs

For Term 3 staff have confirmed we will be running a clubs programme, which all children opt into. There will be clubs suited to Year 1-3 children and clubs suited to Year 4-6 children.  Children will select, from the choices available, two preferences and we will try to accommodate all requests.  If there are any Whanau members who are able and willing to help with a club or run a club probably for one afternoon a week please let us know. Club ideas could be: Kapahaka, knitting, carving, drawing, mosaics, ukulele playing etc. The school will provide any resources needed for a club.

Board of Trustees Meeting

The Kaikohe East School Board is meeting at the school on Monday 1 July at 5:30pm.

Go to the school website www.kaikeast.school.nz for the agenda.

Kutus

Please do not be offended if you are contacted by a staff member or our Public Health Nurse asking that you check your child’s hair for kutus and or eggs. Remember we have free combs and lotions at school that we will give to Whanau if they call into the office.  We have had children very irritable at school because they are so itchy and can’t settle to work. We must all be consistent about checking our children’s’ hair, by doing so we will have more chance of getting rid of these pests!

Kids Can Dress Up Day

On Friday 9th August we are planning a Dress up day to raise funds for Kids Can.  Kids Can have helped us so very much with food, jackets/coats knit oil and combs etc. On this day we are asking for all children to come in “dress up” clothes and buy a $2 sausage sizzle. All funds raised will go to Kids Can
