End of Term

This Friday 15th April is our last day of school for Term One. We will start back on Monday 2nd May for Term 2. Happy Holidays everyone, and if you see anything suspicious happening at our school don’t hesitate to phone the police on 111.

 

Room 17 to Open

Welcome to our new teacher starting in R17 in term 2, Tina Harrison. Whaea Tina will be starting with a small class of children who will come from Room 2. Whaea Becs will contact the Whānau of the children moving this week.

 

Gala Raffles Winners

Class Role Models

Congratulations to the following children who were acknowledged at last week’s School Assembly.

Caught being good children were:

Room 1 – Adelaide Wharerau for having great manners

Room 2 – Kaiah-Rain Ruka for being a cheerful class member and loving learning.

Room 3 – Herewini Rurehe for working really hard to do the right thing and using his 4C’s

Room 4 – Rikihana Graham for trying so hard to complete his work and be positive.

Room 5 – Queenie King for being friendly and kind to everyone

Room 6 – Autumn Mokaraka for doing the right thing and setting a great example

Manawanui – Brooklyn Te Awa for being a great tuakana

Tumanako – Wiremu Howard for focusing and trying hard in writing

Rangimārie – Capree Stillwell-Ngaropo for being an awesome athlete in Room 9

Room 14 – Rheiana Hori-Broomfield for being so kind and helpful to our pupils who need extra care

Room 15 – Nicole Moon for amazing behaviour and ambassador at the Leadership Day

Visit by ParalympianWe were privileged to meet at school assembly last Friday Fiona Southorn who is a New Zealand Paralympic cyclist.  She represented New Zealand at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The children were very excited to see Fiona’s medal collection.

Hockey

So far we only have a coach for one Year 5+6 Saturday hockey team for next term.  If you would like to coach a Year 1+2 or Year 3+4 team please call the office.

 

Netball

We still need a coach for our Year 3+4 team, please call the office if you can help. We will send permission slips out for netball today.

 

Weetbix TRYathlonWhat an awesome event! We are so proud of all our children who participated in this challenge and very appreciative of the staff and Whānau who trained, supported and encouraged our Tryathletes!

 

Swimming

There will be no further swimming in the school pool after the Tryathlete’s free swim today.

 

Te Tupu o Ngā Kākano Playgroup OPEN DAYWhere: Room 10 Kaikohe East School, When: Thursday, 21st April, Time: 10am – 12pm.

For tamariki age 3 to 5 years.  Come on down and bring your little ones for a fun filled morning to see what we have to offer.

 

Kaikohe East Board

The Kaikohe East School Board will meet today at the school at 3:15pm today.

Principal’s AwardCongratulations to Ziggy Vaka from Room 4 who was honoured at our school assembly last week for his Rippa Rugby skill and talent.

 

Whānau League ClubWhānau Rugby League Training's have started for all ages and grades.  Training Days and Times - Tuesday & Thursday at 5PM to 6PM.  Venue: - Northland College
