Newsletter 201726 - 23 August 2017

Welcome

A special welcome to Matua Don Edmonds who is relieving in our school office while Mrs Woodman is on maternity leave.

Condolences

Our condolences to those who have lost loved ones over the past week. Special thoughts to our relief office administrator Matua Alb Baker who’s mum sadly passed away over the weekend.  Our thoughts and prayers are also with Tautoro School who are mourning the loss of their office administrator Whaea Dawnette.

From the School Council

At our meeting last week the school councillors talked about how dangerous it can be on the grass island by the bus bay.  Sometimes cars park there and it is hard to see children crossing particularly when buses are coming and going.

Next week the Senior councillors will be meeting with a sign writer who will help them design signs that will be put on the island to remind cars not to park there.

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride varnish is a temporary protective coating that is painted on your child’s teeth. It is quick and easy to apply and does not have a bad taste.

Currently, fluoride varnish is applied every year by our dental team as part of our normal treatment to prevent decay. Our school is part of a pilot project in which we are applying fluoride varnish every six months as recommended by Ministry of Health.   Eligible children in years 1-3 will receive the fluoride varnish on 5 and 6 September (Note change of date). Whanau who do not want their child/children involved in this project please contact the school.
